To all those saying this woman "doesn't have a clue" - isn't that why she's calling in to this program??? She's trying to learn. She started off by saying she's been out of pocket because of high anxiety and depression. She then turned to God and is on a new path. Now she wants to learn how to do better for her and her husband so she called into Dave Ramsey. People have to start somewhere!! If you know more than her, count yourself blessed. And if you continue to curl your lip at her - perhaps take a closer look at yourself.

"It's not about hope, ITS ABOUT MAKING OUT A PLAN AND EXECUTIONING THE PLAN"
thats what it boils down to. Never truer words!

I appreciate how patient Dave was with this caller. Seems like she's in the beginning of her journey and needs to think big picture long term before getting tactical on how to get there.

Note to self: Be prepared with data before calling in to a radio show.

Financial intelligence is very important to one's mental health. Having a sense of control and a plan boosts self trust and worth.

I currently make less than $35k, I am on baby step 2, and I've knocked out almost 25% of my debt in 6 months of baby step 2.  It's doable, you have to get on a budget, stick to it, and make something visual to keep you motivated to pay your debts off.  I'm also cash flowing my way through college to improve my income hopefully very soon!

Yall are so rude. I'm proud of her for calling and asking for advice.

let's give her credit for not only overcoming anxiety, but being transparent enough to share it.

I paid off debt making 20k before taxes. Was not easy i did not do anything that cost me money during that time. Then again i had around 5-6k and not 60k+.

I live in the Indianapolis area and deal with software developers everyday. If he’s competent in what he’s doing, then $60k is very reasonable. I know people who make more than that without any degrees at all!

So she makes 5 grand a year. Which means she's working 690 hours max if minimum wage. Time to get a full time job lady!!

Slowly but surely it can be paid off, better to focus on increasing income while paying it.

Dang. This makes me feel blessed. I'm a 27 year old single woman and I make $46k a year. But, I live in California so I'm basically broke. Most of my income goes to rent and electricity.

Dave, "Environmental Science". Not "environmental plant". lol
And he's right about her husband. I've been a software developer for 6 years and my first job after I got a 2 year certification was 50k.
