For me, it's Vernors. My parents grew up in Detroit. My family lived in Michigan for generations before me. I was born there, but the family moved away when I was four years old. Vernors will always define ginger ale to me.

Vernor's. Drove from Toronto to Windsor during the pandemic restrictions for a case. It was like a drug deal: "the garage door will be unlocked for 15 minutes. Leave the cash in an envelope in the mail box." Love that you have to let it breath when you open the bottle or can.

A tall glass of Vernors with a scoop of Hudsonville vanilla ice cream is the best! (IMO) If you don't mind the cleanup, add a second scoop and blend it for 30 sec or so. Your comment about a glass of Vernors and saltines while watching the Price is Right was a real childhood mind trip. Thanks!
