One of the greatest scenes in film history, with one of the best monologues ever written, from one of the greatest actors ever.

“Don’t forget to visit your mother”. Saddest line ever.

The speech is brilliant - but it's the end when he speaks directly to his son by saying, "cowards do that, and that ain't you! You're better than that!" gets me every time

I love when Rocky raises his hand and says how his son used to fit in it, and the son rolls his eyes like what is the old man talking about… And then the power of that speech begins!

This scene was somehow able to hit harder than any punch thrown in the entire franchise.

There will always be people who see themselves as victims and blame others for their problems; and then there are people like Rocky, who take their own lives into their own hands, and fight. The latter are the winners, no matter whether they succeed or not, because they defeated the hardest opponent - themselves.

I always come back to this Rocky motivation speech, I'm 26 years old now and this scene still give me chills due to how much I need to believe in what Rocky says

2:39 “Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!” ~ Rocky

I cried when I saw this in the theater. My son got me the poster of this speech for Christmas a few years ago. On the wall in my home office. Now 62, I still cry when I see this scene. Rocky/Stallone epitomizes the human spirit. Thank you Rocky.

After 32 years of military service and seven university degrees, in 5 minutes, I learned more from this scene about life than any other movie, I cannot thank these actors enough.
