CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Rocky (Stylvester Stallone) stops by Paulie's (Burt Young) factory and opens up to him about his intense feelings.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
Sylvester Stallone returns to the director's chair for Rocky Balboa, the fifth sequel to the film that made him a superstar 30 years before. The movie begins with Rocky (Stallone) still mourning the death of his loyal and beloved wife, Adrian, who died three years previously after losing a battle against cancer. Rocky owns an Italian restaurant and spends his days living in his working-class Philadelphia neighborhood, visiting with his customers, and telling stories about his past. His grown son has a job as a business professional, but the relationship between the two is strained. Rocky's growing dissatisfaction leads him to attempt to purge the feelings of frustration and loss by applying for a boxing license. When the current heavyweight champion, Mason "The Line" Dixon (Antonio Tarver), needs to rehabilitate his image as a pretty boy who has never shown any real heart in the ring, his manager offers Rocky an exhibition match. This comeback allows Rocky to get his own life back on track, while also offering him the opportunity to help those around him redeem themselves and once again be a symbol of hope for the common man.

I know exactly how he feels. 23 years, three sons and so many memories. My wife was everything to me. 2 years later i still cry everyday. She was my Adrian. I will not date and I will never remarry. I adored her. My love for her is unconditional. I will just wait until the day we are reunited in heaven. I miss you baby

When he says “she didn’t leave, Paulie, she died”, it breaks my heart every-time.

Never have I seen a character on film or literature who absolutely adored his wife like Rocky did with Adrian. He never remarried nor had any flings when she was alive. Hell, he named his restaurant after her. To see him break down over her gets me ever time. He loved her unconditionally and her with him. Think or thin, they stayed by each other's side. True love.

A shame Stallone didn't win Oscar for Creed, as his self-created character of Rocky Balboa is more nuanced and 3 dimensional than a lot of action movie characters ever written. Even here he shows he can act. He'll probably never win an Oscar, but at some point Stallone should get a Lifetime achievement award...for being the Underdog who never gave up and always stayed true to who he was.

This scene will explain to you why he wanted to be eaten by Cancer in Creed, Rocky had 2 pillars in his life Adrian and Paulie, Adrian dying hurt him the most and once Paulie left he had nobody to share his pain, even while having the whole city of Philly admiring and cheering for him he was now truly alone.

This is so sad, a man who fought for everything in his life. Someone whose heart is pure as gold, lost everything. His kid doesn’t want nothing to do with him, he lost millions and his wife passed away. The moment he ask for someone to help him because he feels like he is drowning, no one is there. This breaks my heart how such a kind man, a good man full of life and joy ends up with nothing meaningful in his life anymore.

Paulie had many vices and problems throughout the series, but at the end of the day, he loved Rocko, and was there for him til the end.

Man this scene got me. I understand how Rocky feels when you give so much to people around you and when you ask for a little help or just need someone to listen to your problems everyone is too busy or has something else to do. You realize that all you can depend on is you and it doesn't matter how nice you are to other people or what you do for them. All you can do is depend on you..

this is so sad. Stallone is such an underrated actor. The Expendables is kids stuff compared to the Rocky series

This scene reminds me of when my mum died and my dad and I had a few drinks the night before the funeral. He was a man who never got over emotional about anything, until I said it wasn't his fault mum 'left'. He wasn't angry at me, just when I said it with the phrasing he looked like he was going to lose it. As an ex merchant sailor with wrists bigger than my knee caps it was intimidating in the same way Rocky was, a strong man who couldn't show his hurt in any way verbally. But I knew, and I apologised like Pauly. And like Rocky my old fella said it way okay and got me another drink. That's why I love Sylvester Stallone, his grasp of how people really interact is peerless.

The fact Stallone successfully rebooted both Rocky and Rambo around the same time and achieved two completely different tones shows he's not only a good actor but one hell of a filmmaker too!

1:24 that was the hardest hit Rocky ever took. I never cry but my eye's water watching this. Skin and bones eventually heal, the heart is a different

“if you stay one place long enough, you become that place” that line was deep.

Being paralyzed at 14 I’ve never come to terms with my injury and when I’m feeling down I watch this scene and it hits hard every time. It just feels like you’re done but there’s a fight inside you that is just beating you.
