Nothing better to do on a Friday than a debunking video! You're the only channel I have notifications for. Keep up the good work Ann, we will always support you!

"Drowning is silent" is a message that needs to be more commonly used. So many think that the stereotypical drowning involves a lot of splashing or noise when the reality is (for lack of a better word) unremarkable. One second they're there and the next they're just gone.

Ann: "this will taste disgusting"
Ann immediately feeds it to Dave.
This cracked me up

"Children aren't stupid, they have no life experience."
Many children grow up believing things that aren't true, adults, with google at their fingertips, will insist what *they were taught* is correct. Children, however, are more prone to learning new things and accepting prior information as wrong. Naivety is not stupidity, children are taught to learn from adults.

Some of these are just insane. And I seriously wish more people like Ann would just pop out around YouTube to tell that to the wider community

Ann deserves all the praise she's getting. You rarely see so much kindness, intelligence and experience at the same time consistently on YouTube. Her family is very lucky to have her

10:11 Dave’s casual spitting out the popcorn is what makes me rewatch this video 😂

Something that makes me so happy whenever you post a video is how clear from the comments is that a lot of your viewers are younger people who are learning proper health and safety and critical thinking skills. As someone in my 30s, I watch your videos mostly to be incredulous at how ridiculous these videos are without giving them direct attention, but I know that these are such powerful and important resources especially for younger and more vulnerable communities 💜💜 keep doing what you’re doing Ann. You’re genuinely saving lives

I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see this channel grow as much as it has. The comment about not preying on kids in response to those who would make such a disgusting excuse as to why they SHOULD - beautiful, magnificent! I sincerely appreciate the work of those that genuinely look out for others and their safety. 🥺❤️

Ann, thank you for sharing the story of your son. So many parents won't share such stories because they are afraid of the backlash they might receive. In reality, it is something that could literally happen to anybody.

Just wanted to comment for the algorithm. I’ve so much respect for just how measured your explanations are and your arguments too. No parent can watch their children 100% of the time and it’s silly to suggest that’s possible. The onus is on people to make content that is either safe and true, or with the right warnings if it’s unsafe or if it’s fabricated.
Really enjoy all your videos!

yeah a "fake" disclaimer would be nice especially since a "do not try this at home" disclaimer just motivates people to try and figure out if they can do it

How you break things down in a clear but not a demeaning way is really great way

Any parent knows it is impossible to supervise your children 100% of the time, nor is it advised. Children should be allowed to have some time of not being supervised increasing as they age until they are adults. You don’t supervise them 100% of the time until they are 18 and then go, off you go your on your own. I think teenagers are going to be the real victims in these prank videos. They are starting to explore the world increasingly on their own or with peers instead of adults but they don’t have the life experience or common sense that a grown adult has. I mean look at that tide pod situation a few years ago. I honestly think a few of these prank video scammers need to be held accountable a few times before they will stop.

The issue with having so many rings is that your legs which are far lighter float higher and your torso and by extension head sinks lower into the water which means you’re constantly straining your neck and upper body to keep your head out of the water which then leads to fatigue which at best results in really sore neck muscles and worse case scenario drowning, the way the rings are set up in the video makes this effect even worse because you have no floatation device above your armpits so you’re required to hold your head up unassisted, luckily for Matthew in your version the rings slanted forwards meaning he had support at least to his collar bones/neck but had the rings slanted the other way it would’ve meant he had basically no support above his chest and he’d have to be pushing his head into the other side of the ring to keep his face above water and since the rings all push up together it would be very difficult to overcome that

If you doubt how difficult it is to keep your head up for any period of time try laying flat on the floor and holding your head up unsupported

When I was around 4 years old, I almost drowned with a swim ring. My parents made a mistake by leafing me in the baby section and taking my younger brother around 3m away for training into deeper water, where I couldn't stand anymore ... I still remember this moment very vividly even 30 years later. I wanted to swimm to my parents, therefore bending forword and as I was about to swimm over the rope that devided both parts of the pool I flipped over. Fortunaly my father noticed that around 10sec later and I felt him gripping my ankles and turning me around. On the same day my parents got rid of all the swim rings we had and NEVER touched them again. They also would tell every parent: Don't buy that stuff or pay constant attention and never ever let your kid out of sight for a single second!

Thanks for what you do, and getting to the heart of the problems these prank videos create.

Wave pools are also incredibly dangerous. I almost drowned in one when I was a kid. I kept trying to push off the bottom and swim to the top, but a wave would come through and push me back down again. I couldn't get to the surface. Vision was starting to go spotty when my brother saw me and reached down and grabbed my arm and pulled me out. My mom ended up tearing into the lifeguard, cause he wasn't paying attention and had been talking to some girl.
