I like how she doesn’t just prove that they’re fake, she shows how you can actually get a similar result

"We need to make something edible so Dave has something to eat."

Edible is a term used VERY loosely here

The freezer trick is used by librarians to prevent mold when there are too many items to dry them. You freeze what you can not dry straight away- then defrost and dry properly when you have the time and space. Its an emergency technique only and you still have to deal with drying it!

Archivist here! Fun fact! We freeze paper after water damage to prevent mould growth, but we also use a special freezer that has air flow designed to dry the paper and stop pages sticking together

Please tell Dave we truly appreciate his suffering on our behalf.

I think the most infuriating thing about these "hacks" is that, like you pointed out, they make (young) people think that reality is not governed by science or logic but by pure magic

Valuable or rare books that are damaged with water are in fact frozen. It stops mold or further damage. But the original video missed the important second step. The frozen books are placed in a vacuum where the ice changes directly from a solid to a gas. Books saved!

Ann talking about how sweet Dave is was seriously sweeter than all the chocolate in those ‘waffles’

No, no. Ann, they clearly “reversed the polarity” of their freezer and turned it into a dehydrator and that’s how they fixed their notebook...😜

I think the funniest thing is Ann's family opening the freezer and seeing a notebook and a shoe and just being like "oh mum's at it again"

poor dave, surely he thought marrying a food scientist would be very different than "hey dave, eat some burnt skittle waffle"

FYI. In regards to reversing the "polarity" on the microwave. Household appliances run on AC - Alternating Current. That means the current flows back and forth in the wires and not in one direction as it does in DC - Direct Current. AC does not have a polarity. DC does. Reversing the Red and Black or Active and Neutral wires on an AC appliance, does not make it work in reverse. It works just the same. However it does increase the risk of electrocution.
