And I was pleasantly surprised to see many Burmese restaurants in San Francisco. I don't see a lot here in LA Orange County area.

Yayy I've been requesting for Burmese food and so happy that you finally tried it and glad that you liked it. The one you tried is another version with vegetables (cabbage, shallots and tomatoes). Another most common way is with nuts(peanuts, fried shallots and sesame seeds). (Btw, it's chilli similar to Thai bird eye chilli because we don't have jalapenos)

I don't like tea so no tea leaves for me I can already guess the pungent taste and smell

There are many Myanmar people here in the Philippines and one has been a part of ou family. They usually correct us if we refer to them as "Burmese" because according to them "Burmese" only refers to a certain group of people in Myanmar. Hope they will achieve peace.

I've only had tea leaves in sweets so I'd love to try a savory use of them!

Glad to see the authentic texture and not the westernised "Salad" version.

You should try it from a place called My Burma in Davis, CA... It's way better, and they give you a LOT more than that place in Burlingame. Not bad at that restaurant either, but the other one is definitely better

I love this! I'd even add sweet corn in my tea leaf salad. And dried shrimp. 🤤

Isn’t Mingalaba restaurant in Burlingame? Not in San Francisco unless another restaurant with the same name opens up in the city recently.
