Bring a list of what u need or want in your wardrobe. If it feels scratchy, I’m most likely not interested unless the design is amazing

Whenever you’re looking at a light colored top while thrifting, immediately check the armpits. There are so many white/cream tops that I got excited for, only to then realize they had noticeable pit stains.

I love picking through racks, i usually just look for a textile i like first and then see if i like the style and if it's in my size

Our local thrift store sorts everything by type and then by size within type and then by colour within size and it’s the BEST

Love this! I also have a system to avoid pulling out the hanger. Color first, but then also MATERIAL. You can just feel the fabric on the hanger to get a sense for the quality. Goes fast!

I am over fifty and was never taught how to look good. Trying to change things but don't know how to shop. I've watched a few of your videos now. Thanks for making everything WAAAY less intimidating! Knowing what I'm looking at/for will make it so much easier. Subbed. Thanks! 👍

First things first: know what you want. It’s like having a grocery list before shopping for grocery! When i go in, i pick 1) the color, 2) size/fit, 3) brand (cuz i’m not picking up shein or amazon essentials) and finally, 4) material and quality!

I wear greens, browns, and whites. It makes thrifting to much easier to know I only will be looking for and buying items of those colors. It also makes creating outfits easier ❤

Only a slight disagreement: do not, under any circumstances, try to hunt for something specific and give yourself a time limit. Take the afternoon. Listen to a podcast. Look at literally everything. Connect to the universe, or it will not provide. ❤

Sometimes I'm too mentally drained to properly thrift so I just scan the rack with my eyes for interesting fabrics. Florals, plaids, metallics, other fun fabrics. It's a lot easier to do it this way. Just focusing on 1 or 2 qualities. Sometimes I'm there for cardigan. Most thrifted sweaters are pullovers so that also shortens the amount of time I spend digging. Way less intimidating to simplify your shopping list.

also looking @ fabric blends, straight stitching and pilling is key! if you can see your hand through it, maybe leave that on the rack

I have found so much good quality stuff at the thrift store! You just have to sift through the trash (now all the shein clothes they’re selling for more than shein) to find the treasure. I found 100% cashmere sweaters, Tibetan leather boots, etc.

Mine are usually: 1) Warm or Fall-esque jewel tones, 2) slim fit so women's, and 3) stick to certain brands, certain blends, and non-dryclean for most part.

Yes, if you know what season colors suit you best, the colors one is especially helpful!

I just pick out what pops out to me and then examine the tag. Most of them are so ugly but of course I can find some good ones.

I wish you would link the other videos you mention! I try to scroll through your other shorts but I can’t find it

I think it's also helpful to recognize common store brands to help you determine if they're worth it. I will thrift store brand items, but I'm pickier because often they're lower quality to begin with. I don't want my clothes to get holes right away, so I'm unlikely to thrift a store brand t-shirt, but might thrift something made out of a more durable fabric.

Quality control; no holes, no snagged stitches, no stains, no smells, no worn out collars and sleeves, no stretched out shapes. There may be more red flags.

Great advice. I think I'm a good thrifter. I don't by what I'm unsure of and I check quality, amd go in with an idea of what I'm looking for but with hope of being surprised. I've found a few really amazing pieces that I get compliments on all the time.
