Another tip! If you don't want to look through every size of pants, at least look in your size AND the size number double yours. Vintage pants/jeans were measured differently so while I am a size 4-6 in modern jeans, I am typically a 10-14 in vintage. Thrift store employees may not know and will put these jeans in the bigger sizes. I found my favorite pink vintage jeans doing this! :)

If you know you don't wear a particular color or type of clothing then avoiding that section altogether makes a big store a lot less overwhelming! Theres always the possibility of finding gems in any section but if your main issue is getting past the stress of it all being so much, then this is super helpful. I don't wear sleeveless tops, purple or blue very often so I save a lot of time and energy by avoiding those sections altogether!

Always check the put back rack!!! It's pre-curated :) Similarly, check the ends of aisles, particularly if they're located next to a mirror.

Also: so important to remember that thriftstores (or opshops here in Australia) are DONATIONS. Therefore NEW THINGS ALL THE TIME. There's a local opshop/thrift of mine that is so cheap (literally $5 AUD max) but for years I avoided it because I never found anything. I recently moved a couple streets away from it and popped in to drop off donations and managed to find one or two things on my ultimate wishlist, which has drawn me back into visiting there often!

Wear something that fits. I match side seam to side seam with what I'm wearing. Same with crotch to waist (rise) in pants. And shop out of season. Also go to a different climate; an area that gets cold for coats and boots, an area that doesn't for shorts and sandals. Humane society's often have a great thrift store. Look for neighborhood sales, esp in retirement communities.

I always take the hangers off before checking out, it makes it quicker and easier for the cashier. Also, I heard this tip elsewhere, but it is helpful to the cashier to sort things into similar tag colors when checking out

Whenever I’m in a new area for a couple days or a weekend I always make it a point to find a thrift store to check out before I head home! I love knowing that I found those things in different locations than at home. I have my usual route of stores I go to by my house and it’s good to know the best days and times of the day to go to avoid crowds :) makes the trip so much more enjoyable so deff agree with ya on that one!

If Alexa was a color she’d be her velour top. ❤️

I like thrifting in more upscale stores like Plato’s closet, makes it easier and (imo) the clothes are well taken care of and even new w tags.

Once I found express jeans with tags on for $15 💕💕💕

In my opinion, garage sales are the best for children's clothing. Often the advertiser will put "3t girl's clothing" for example. So it can help parents find clothes for good prices. They often are good quality because children grow quickly. That's where my mom mostly shopped when I was a kid

Your comment about repairs made me remember I recently thrifted a pair of jeans which needed a couple of stitches, so I'm gonna do that while watching the rest of the video! thanks :D

Girl THANK YOU for this! Can we get it one more time, louder, for the people in the back? 🗣 DON’T 👏🏼LEAVE👏🏼A👏🏼MESS👏🏼‼️💯 It’s about respect… for the establishment, for the other customers, for the items, and for yourself. And you know.. U KNOW… most of the time the people making the mess are the first and loudest to complain about having to shop in it 🙃

I went to this thrift store when I was on a trip this past June in WY, and I live in New England, and oh my goodness it was literal heaven. They had a $5 fill a bag with any clothing item sale to cleanout some of their inventory! Sometimes you just never know when your going to come across a really great thrift store!

One tip I feel I have learned is try a thrift store more than once! I usually go to Goodwills because that is what is in my area, and sometimes I've been to one location and have found nothing and another time I go back and I score. Like Alexa said, sometimes you won't find anything but that is all part of the journey of thrifting, when you find that one item that is amazing, it is all worth it ☺️
