One of the updated services is not running properly you can try to run a troubleshooter to fix the problem. Go to start button -- Settings -- Update & Security -- Troubleshoot, and then select Windows Update

#windowsupdate Control + Alt + Delete -- Task Manager --Services -- Open Services -- Windows Update

Doesn't work! When I check the service from Disabled to Automatic, the start option is silvered out and can't work it!

the problem for me is that when i try to put it on automatic it says acces denied

Trying to do this but on applying Automatic option it showing that " The delayed auto-start flag could not be reset" Error 5: Access is denied. I don't know what is the problem. Please help me in that.

Found StopUpdate10guard, disabled it then followed steps in vid and work

after clicking automatic, then apply, then start. it just stopped for a few seconds. then it is disabled again.

I have follow your ways however i can't change the startup type. It says the access denied when im trying to apply it. Do you know how can i solve this problem?

Thanks so much! I couldn't get mine to work for the longest time but thanks to this video I got Windows Update working again. I was doing the first step by setting it to automatic but I was skipping the second step and not applying start (1:55 mark in video) so that's why it wasn't working for me.

hey, the windows update in services is stopping when I start it. I have the same problem of error encountered but the windows update is not running in services, that is the main problem I am getting. please help out

i need help when i open the windows update in the task manager it wont let me set it to automatic in fact it wont let me do anything on properties.

When i clicked start there are message appeared with title service and its detailed: windows could not start the windows update service on local computer.
Error 1058: the service could not be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.
