How to Start a Mindfulness Meditation Practice

Mindfulness is learning to attend to and observe the present moment, on purpose, as non-judgmentally, and non-reactively as possible. By practicing mindfulness and training our attention, with consistency, we are better able to manage the stressors that come our way, resulting in improving our mental, emotional, and physical health. Practicing mindfulness is deceptively simple, but that does not mean it is easy. Within this session, we will discuss tactical strategies for starting and continuing an effective mindfulness practice.

Please note: Today’s session includes some brief, optional experiential sessions that may invite you to get up and move about. Please note that exercise is not without its risks and this or any other exercise program may result in injury. Do not join in this activity if your physician or health care provider advises against it, or if you have a medical or physical condition that may increase your risk of injury or death. If you experience faintness, dizziness, pain or shortness of breath at any time while exercising you should stop immediately. Those following the workout routines do so at their own risk.
