If your style is actually effective, spar a boxer for a couple rounds. I need real proof.

It’s easy when your opponent throws a slow punch and then stays in that position long enough for you to move and slap them.

I can’t believe he just gave away the secret to the dreaded death rib-slap!

But how do I adjust the opponent’s playback speed when I try this in a real fight?

“Its an ‘ancient’ way.” 😂
Tai Chi is the most effective marrial art ever... for pushing people away so you have room to run. Seriously, its actually good at that lol

ths looks like it would work perfectly against someone who throws a slow jab and then pauses with their arm extended.

Felt sorry for the boxer. Had to pretend he wouldn't be able to utterly smash this guy. Must've been tough on his ego. Fair play to him.

That slap on the ribs must be absolutely devastating.

I'm going to say this once, I'm going to say this twice, Tai-chi is not self defense it's just a healthy activity

For all those that laugh at these beginner explanations, it might be interesting to know that Tai chi was originally only taught to those who had mastered all the other levels of kung fu. It wasn't taught to the public. It was the most advanced form of kung Fu. That slap to the solar plexus is nasty enough, but if he misses it can break a rib. And the opponent has to setup all over again. Also, beginners take much more shallow steps. Only the most advanced take deep steps and elongated forms. And btw, he did mention fast twitch muscle use, which needs to specifically developed intentionally. Most people will not get there. Especially if a little older. But even those only interested in the health aspect of tai chi will develop muscle memory and if put into a situation ... That will kick in and they will gate much better. You may, or may not recall that lateral movement in Olympic boxing was brought to the ring by the American boxing team in the 1980s, and they dominated.
