Scott Adkins is criminally amongst the most underrated action star, he surely deserves more recognition as he's both a good actor and a great performer of martial arts

"We need a villain for Ip Man 4."
"How about Guile?"
"...from Street Fighter?"
"Yeah. Scott Adkins can play him."

I mean for someone who fought an opponent WAY above his weight class and size, he did splendidly.

that first throw by the tai Chi master was an amazing piece of cinematography and one of the coolest moves i have ever seen in a kung fu movie, including ip man's moves.

Wan's mistake was switching to an aggressive style. In the beginning he used classic tai chi where it uses the opponents momentum against them. He felt he needed more power mid way though and changed styles and he was no longer a threat after that.

What I love about many fights in the Ip Man movies is that often the pendulum seems to swing between the opponents for a while; like here, at some point Adkin's character seems only seconds away from winning, but then the master surprises him again once more... these fights are really great and entertaining to watch!

0:22 that sequence of reflecting the punches, locking the leg and push back by Master Wan is some of the coolest shit I’ve seen

I think the masters biggest flaw, is that he tried to fight aggresivly against another aggressive fighter, who's also physically larger then him. Ip Man on the other hand, is an almost purely defensive fighter. Instead of rushing in to attack a bigger guy who can shrug off strikes he sees coming, he should've bided his time like Ip man, and used his strength against him.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Scott Adkins is the only "villan" that Ip Man actually connected or finished that throat punch. Haven't seen the movie's in a while, but still bad ass

It's pretty fucking badass how Wan rallies himself at 1:49 and tries to keep going, despite how the fight has turned against him. The choreo reflects it too, he still gets beat, but he keeps trying clever techniques and gets a few good hits in well past the point where, in most movies, he'd be a punching-bag.

He is the most complete fighter in the world.

Am I the only one who think it's unfair that Scott had boots and the Master didn't? That's a huge advantage for the General

2:27 despite losing, that is one cool defensive move. If only there was some furniture so create more damage.

I feel like this was more of a plot-required defeat more than anything. Wan's speed was destroying him without mistake at the beginning. Hard to imagine it would all of a sudden turn around and he would be so careless and lacking of ability when he put up such an even fight against IP man.

It isn't exaggerated at all when they say taking too many bodyshots will slow a fighter down significantly.body shots literally drain the energy from a fighter. You can see master Wan started to deplete over time eventually getting wacked.

Wan was doing so well on the counter defensive, but when he had to attack his defensive got vulnerable, maybe he would have a better chance if he didn't change his strategy waiting for the best moment to counter attack a fatal blow, the worth mistake you can possible make against someone stronger than you is a attack straight on, once you get your defensive vulnerable that's it, this fight is the perfect exemple.
