Sorry about the gap in uploads. VERY busy month, but lots more content coming soon!
Obviously this is a subjective list, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of these.

I make videos about older tech - mostly Macs, almost every week. Subscribe and I’ll see you in the next one!

Thanks for watching.

I've just got a 2015 15" MBP with the i7 2.5, R9 370X & 16GB RAM, can't wait for it to arrive, I think it's going to serve me well.

I love my 2013 13' MacBook Pro. It's a bit heavy but the screen is better than any laptop I can find. I only use it for the news and watching 2k footage, so I never have any lag.

Amazing video! It is incredible that this video wasn't recommended to me after searching for someone talking about old macs for entire days.

Great list! I'm in agreement with all of the main points. I've been using a 9 yr old MacBook 2.8 quad core i7 16 GB 500 GB 15" Mid 2015 as a main computer for years. I did replace the battery pack and the drive once and a speaker. It does have some life left. Contemplating a 2019 MacBook 16" i9 with more capability for light video editing or an M1. Still looking.

Congrats for 1k! Of course by now you have almost 10x times that!

I will say as a brand new viewer, you have a great narrative voice and it’s something I can most certainly put in the background just watching your videos while working on other projects!

This is an excellent video even in the end of 2024! I own most of these laptops and must say I agree with a lot of your ideas. The M1 Air I'd place first, due to its incredible reliability and projected longevity over the next several years. The 15" 2015 MBP is the one machine I haven't gotten to experience, but they are amazingly reliable. The late 2013 and 2014 15" machines use similar processors (all 4th gen intel i7s) so they are a similarly good deal. But...

I might somewhat disagree on the Retina 2012 machines. Anything dual core at this point, up to and including the 2015 13", is pretty sluggish, so I could only really recommend a 15" 2012, and the 10, 1 (mid-2012 and early 2013) have a graphics power chip issue (U8900 has weak solder joints) that could be annoying to deal with. I had one die on me from that issue, and fingers crossed my current one does not suffer that same failure.
Also, I love my 2019 16". With its i9, 32GB ram, and incredible room-filling sound and gorgeous display, it is amazing value. I worry constantly about its reliability, though, as I have heard from sources like Louis Rossman that the voltage controller for its SSD is prone to fail and send 13V straight to the NAND chips, causing a complete loss of data and rendering the device useless.

The no-force touch trackpad would be a dealbreaker for me. Ever since I got a MacBook Pro M1 at work I got an M1 Air for private use and I have to say, the trackpad is the best I've ever had. I like it so much that I replaced my Logitech mouse for an external Magic Trackpad 2.

I recently had to use my 2009 MacBook Pro for a legacy project and beside getting hot pretty soon, I loved the robustness and the feeling of it.

I run two of the 2012 MBPs with all of the upgrading available. Had to for the Firewire port. Love these guys. Does what I need.

Great content, Glad to see your channel growing. As for content ideas maybe you could try upgrading those older models through opencore to see how they cope with more modern versions of macos than the ones oficially suported. Keep up the great work. :)

Great video, keep up the good work! I need your advice tho. What's your opinion on MacBook Pro 15" 2019 2, 4GHz Intel i9 32GB 1TB, would you recommend buying it? I really got a good offer, but people scare me with butterfly keyboard failures. Is Late 2019 16'' really different? Thanks a lot.
