My recommended list

1. Bring snacks AND water (purchased after your security check) in case you get stuck on the plane for an extended period of time. Happens
2. Bring disinfectant wipes for your tray and seat area when you are getting seated
3. Bring change of cloths including toothbrush for when your checked bag gets lost
4. Bring a battery for charging your electronics preferably at least 20, 000 mAh
5. Bring cash and never just rely on your credit cards as their machines can and do go down and it's nice to be able to buy whatever you want on the plane
6. Download your streaming shows and movies ahead of time onto your device
7. Plan to go to the bathroom before getting on the plane

as a 13 year old i was as dumb to share much personal information with a man sitting next to me. Not on a plane, on a train. He was disabled so i felt bad and he was sad no one wanted to talk to him, so i did. He stalked me for 3 years and didn’t leave me alone until he was sent to jail for harassment and stalking in multiple cases. he still wrote me letters from jail until i called this jail and told them to stop him from sending me letters. i was scared for my life for years. Now at 21 i haven’t heard from him the last 2 years, in one of his letters he said he’ll be in prison for 8 years. still getting goosebumps while writing this, hope he forgets about me the time he’s in jail and leaves me alone.

#5 is very important. Drug traffickers try to make you an unwitting accomplice if they get caught. A woman tried to say a complete stranger was her daughter after trying to get her to put her bag in overhead compartment. DO NOT TOUCH ANYONE'S LUGGAGE FOR ANY REASON. If someone needs help, let the flight attendant put bag in the compartment. ❤

Tips from a travel agent:
1. If in a country with drinkable tap water like Germany, Sweden, Czech Republic etc bring an empty bottle and just fill it up after security check.
2. If you wanna bring back food from a trip, make sure it's vegan because some things like meat or cheese may not be allowed. Non-animal products are almost never a problem except for fresh fruits and vegetables.
3. Pack clothes, medicine and toiletries for at least 3 days in your handluggage because losing your suitcase is unfortunately not too uncommon. Had to deal with that way too often.
4. If you're travelling during (school) holidays, make sure to be at the airport at least 3h prior to the flight. You never know how long the line for security is.
5. Wear comfy clothes. You only got 1 m³ for several hours.
6. Dress yourself in onion style. Layer upon layer. Cause the plane is either cold as Antarctica or hot as hell.
7. Bring hard candy and take it when taking off and landing. Swallowing your saliva helps weakening the pressure on your ears.
8. Please do not watch videos of plane crashes before your trip like some of my customers did. 💀

Put an airtag in your checked bag. That way when the airlines loses it, you can tell them where it is.

for those wondering about the hot water: any non bottled water comes from the same water tank that is rarely cleaned and hot water comes from their coffee machine that is also rarely cleaned and is also located next to the bathrooms

Number 5 is very important!!! Especially be aware not to give your address details! I had very scary and uncomfortable moment during and after my flight; a guy which was not supposed to seat next to me started to ask me about my personal details. First his elbow hit my head and it hurt. I just didn't wanna be so cruel and nicely said nothing happened. Then he started a conversation and in between tried to over over ask about my address details. First he asked if l live in the city centre or somewhere outside of the city. And then a few times this kind of questions repeated. Like if l live close to shopping centre. And he explains that he used to have restaurants in the city centre that is why he wonders. And all many stupid questions of course l was nearly falling in his question traps. He really tried to learn if someone gonna pick me up from airport, if l am alone or not. I started to feel very uncomfortable him sitting next to me. He asked me if l have luggage to pick up from luggage band.l thought that he must have himself a luggage to pick up, so it would be right to say no l have no luggage, because l really had no big luggage and this would just give me time to quickly run out of airport before he intends to follow me. And when he started to repeat his questions about my address details, l replied him that l know what he is trying to do and just stop asking about me. Well the disturbing moments did not end there. While we were leaving the plane, in the corridor he pulled my luggage towards himself strongly and said that he wanna help it must be heavy, first of all, my cabin luggage was the smallest cabine luggage size and was not heavy at all. As we all know no one has the right to pull our personal luggage like that. The girls behind me got schock when they saw how he pulled my luggage but because l didn't yell and tried to be calm they kept walking. I just calmly said that l can carry my own luggage. The only thing l was thinking how l am gonna make home. Because this guy kept following me, l started to walk slowly and let him go first, but he instead of keep walking straight to his home or wherever he was planning to go, kept looking behind and making sure if l am there. Anyway when l made to exit the airport l wanted to quickly get into a taxi but he was 10-15 meters in front of me and stopped and started to stand there to wait for me. He saw me for a few seconds then I hide myself behind of a car and gave a sign to taxi driver, taxi arrived in front of me and l just hopped that he didn't see which taxi number l got just in case he could asked my address details to taxi driver. Well in the moment when the taxi driver asked my address, because l was still shivering from being scared of a not normal behaving guy, l didn't feel comfortable to give my all address details to taxi driver. I just got out somewhere close to where my parents lives just one apartment further not far of course l was very scared. Thank god that l don't usually live in that adress where he was trying to learn because l was just visiting my family. Sometimes in life we get very close to dangerous things, please be aware of not giving any of your personal details to the strangers.

million miler on United and i have never seen a flight attendant as lovely as her. given how the airline screwed over the flight attendants such that they had to keep working... i am 66 and rarely did i see a flight attendant younger than me. granted the long hauls out of Hawaii go to the senior in status flight attendants.
