As a Neurosurgical nurse, my top 5: 1) Never be on a motorcycle / bicycle / skateboard, etc without a helmet. 2) Never be in a car / automobile without a seatbelt. 3) Never be on a ladder alone and/or under any influence. 4) Never drink and be in / on a motorized anything 5) Never ignore a "Worst headache of your life".

Not owning a handgun increases your chances of death or injury. I’ll pass on that one

These are also things that I would not do!! But the helmet one especially! I suffered a closed head injury as a teen which took a couple of years to heal from, and that was with the protection of an entire car around me.
Even when we were in a no helmet law state, I was the only one with a helmet on the bike. Our melons need all the help we can give them!!

Owning a handgun with proper knowledge of handling it safely is far from dangerous. You would have to intentionally harm yourself it's almost impossible to do it any other way if you're operating with proper caution and safety in mind.

Never own a handgun? Dude, c'mon that's pretty tenuous. It's a gun. It's not a bear or a viper. You could say the same thing about almost anything. Did you know that if you golf you're statistically more likely to die on a golf course than someone who doesn't golf? It makes no sense. You practice gun safety and store your firearms and that "risk" goes down to negligible levels.

Is a handgun more dangerous than a rifle/shotgun statistically because it is easier for a kid to manipulate?

‘never own a handgun”….another way of saying ‘come rob me I won’t shoot back.’ Be smarter doc.

100% of gun violence is perpetuated by sum1 not following basic gun safety. There are over 300 million guns in he U.S., but only 120K shootings annually. So u wana disarm citizens for <1% accident rate? By that logic all vehicles should be outlawed bc fewer cars than guns but more collisions and injuries.

I understand that you see the violence from them, I respect that. But what u don’t c is the thousands of Americans whose lives are saved and defended by owning a gun. Bad guys ont care about the laws, that’s y they’re criminals.

By putting yourself out there as not owning a gun, you’ve ironically made yourself put yourself in more danger than ownin what you don’t want too.

As a trauma - specialized Radiologic Technologist at Level 1 ED, I heartily endorse this list.

I also stay the hell off of ladders.

The handgun suggest is true. It just changes psychology and brazen judgment.
