I was 3 when my senior dog ripped open my lip, went to the ER to get stitches, the ER doctor took one look at me and noped out and called a plastic surgeon in the hospital. He told my mom he didn’t want to be responsible noticeably scarring my face for the rest of my life. Plastic surgeon was able to repair it to where it’s only a small scar you can’t notice unless you’re looking for it. So shout out to that plastic surgeon and even more of a shout out to the ER doctor for knowing his limits.

#3 My mom has a thyroid issue. Went from 120 in her youth to 300 by 30. Shes back down thanks to her medicine. Diet never changed

Remember, no matter how well you think you know a dog... once they become older, be aware that they may not be able to see/hear as well, they maybe grumpy cause they're in pain... even if you've known that dog for years, be careful. I learned that the hard way & came so close to losing a chunk of my face to a friend's dog I had known for years... but he was getting old & going blind. I accidentally startled him & he snapped real quick!

I saw a motorcycle rider get decapitated when they tried to split lanes. Its been 30 years since and It still gives me nightmares. I actually refused to date my husband initially because he rode a motorcycle and I wasn't investing my time in a man trying to die.

I misread that as put my face on a dog's face like removing your face and grafting it onto a dog. I was like i fucking hope so

Thank you for #3. I have been shamed my whole life for my weight and only praised when I had an active eating disorder. So much more goes into weight.

Thank you for #3. I suffered over 10 years with multiple severe medical issues because Dr. after Dr. dismissed every symptom and pain saying it was related to being obese and refused to help me. It was only after I was able to lose enough weight that I was taken seriously and started getting help. Turns out none of it was related to being obese.

Truth to that. I worked in a doctor's office and would see doc come back in the office on a Monday looking ragged out. He worked the ER and during the warm months we would ask how his weekend went and he would just grunt "motorcycles".

#3 thank you. Thyroid disorder sufferer here. Still trying to get my dosage high enough to get my numbers right. Hopefully I’ll be able to lose weight then..

Thank you for number 3. I have had to ask doctors who are overattributing to weight, "If I were healthy weight coming in with these symptoms/this complaint, what tests would you order? OK, make a note in the chart that you are refusing to order these tests because of your weight bias." That usually gets their attention and they start doing their job.

I had most of my cheek ripped off as an 8 year old by a dog. Nearly considered plastic surgery to correct it. But laser surgery and a good surgeon in the ER helped so much in the healing over the years. It’s still pretty obvious when you’re within talking distance but it’s smooth and skin colored :)

As a veterinary nurse - Yes! Always ask the owner if it is okay to approach their dog, watch the dog for signs of stress, and approach in a way that gives the dog space and time to react. Never zoom straight in on the face, as this surprises and stresses many dogs (even an otherwise agreeable dog can be caught by surprise and bite out of stress!). Approach slowly from the side, speak in a calm voice, and if they give you any reason to doubt their temperament or mood just back away 👍.

OK. Now that I’m a Single mom, widowed with a daughter, I pledge that I am going to sell both of my motorcycles and give up vaping. These are relatively easy things I can do to prolong my life so that I can spend as much time with my daughter on this earth as possible. Thank you Dr. Youn. for some reason my eyes were just forced open. And I’m grateful.

#3 thank you thank you thank you for saying this. Obesity is more complicated than calorie intake and output. There are many factors and it can go beyond the hormones. Genetics, autoimmune disorders, mental health, eating disorders, intolerances to certain foods, recent birth etc.

I feel that one about weight. It's not just those things, but mental health as well! Depression and anxiety can also cause people to gain weight or even loose a lot.

Paramedics here in the UK often refer to roads when you’re on motorcycles as ‘cheese graters’, that was a big ‘nope’ from me.
I got off the wrong side of my mums little run around scooter once (I was about 8, & she’d put me & my friends on one at a time & drive very slowly just around the corner & back again with a helmet on, we loved it!) - I got off on the engine side & burnt the entire back of my leg, thankfully no scarring but I still remember the huge water filled blisters that I had to get taken care of at the doctors!

Thank you for your understanding comments regarding those who are overweight. It infuriates me when medical professionals instantly presume you’re the size you are through laziness or gluttony, & more importantly, won’t treat you for your condition or pain by using the excuse ‘if you just lost weight…’ - my disabilities are genetic & chronic, I’ve dropped weight, my pain has increased, regardless of that, being large does not mean I should be left in excruciating pain. I wish society’s opinions of us & those in the medical field would change.
