I love the reactions when Tywin asks Gendry what is your trade right before he was going to be killed and he says a Smith my lord, they all looked like idiots because they were just about to kill a guy who in today's age a Blacksmith is basically the equivalent to a fighter jet pilot a rare and extremely useful trade during a war.

This one of those moments when Tywin shows another side of himself. Many people entirely miss a key point with Tywin Lannister. Weakness is suicide in this type of feudal world. Those who are too kind and easy-going (like Tywin's father) only inspire revolts (like the Rains of Castamere) and often end up dead. Tywin was ruthless when he had to be, but he didn't enjoy senseless cruelty. Tywin COULD have just simply rode on about his business and let all those people die. Instead, he chose to save them all (without looking weak) and made sure the girl was safe from the soldiers in his personal care. He REALLY didn't need to do that. I might add that even if Tywin knew who these two were, Arya would have still lived. Only the Stark men who would carry on the Stark name would have been seen as a threat to him. He'd use Arya as a hostage and (like Sansa) force her into marriage with some Lannister or allied house. He would NOT have killed her. Besides, even then he'd taken a liking to her. Gendry? Tywin would not have killed him immediately. He'd probably keep him alive (for a while) to see how best he could use him.
