Great video! Love that you provided alternative choices. Can you do a similar video with higher end SUVs?

I don't know why I click on these type of videos because one guy says it's junk, another says it's average, and another says is great. I've owned one of the cars on your list for 1.5 years and no problems at all - there have been no changes in the 2023 model and my 2021. I'd like for the transmission to be a little smoother but it's not a deal breaker.

You broke my heart when you mentioned two I the ones I was look at. But I'm glad that you are adding recommendations to your videos. Now I have others to look for.

Hyundai / Kia have more engine recalls than all the cars in the "top 10" combined....and owners of some models are told not to park them inside due to risk of fire.

In summary, there’s a better Japanese alternative to all these models listed namely Toyota, Honda, Mazda and Subaru, we own 2 Hondas and a Mazda couldn’t be happier with each one!

Glad to hear subaru is so good I have an outback and wouldn’t trade it for any other those vehicles you mentioned! Love my 21 Subaru Outback

Not sure if you're aware, but the new escape uses the 1.5l 3 cylinder ecoboost dragon engine now. The same one used in the Bronco sport. Not the 1.5l 4 cylinder ecoboost that had issues.

You nailed it with the traverse!
I own a 2018….
My son in law owned a 2019 traverse…

Both had transmission problems! My son in law got rid of his vehicle, and I too will soon be trading my traverse!

If you are thinking of buying a Traverse, THINK AGAIN!!!!

As someone who generally likes Ford, Honda and Volkswagen, it’s disappointing how expensive all cars have become and underwhelming the performance and reliability metrics are.

It truly feels like the planned obsolescence model from consumer electronics. I suppose cars are more computer-like than ever…

In my area even the most basic cars like a bottom-trim Volkswagen Taos are $30, 000 or more. The cheapest Honda Civic EX from the local dealer is $32, 000…they have a 2022 Honda Pilot Touring listed for $60, 500.

I work with rental cars and can confirm almost every single one of these will make up the out of service line. Escapes are always throwing a check engine light and have a terrible driver seat that has a spring that shoots up squarely on your tailbone. Explorers have horrendously jerky transmissions (even low mileage ones), Compasses/Cherokees are always having transmission issues or overheating terribly, outlander sports are poorly assembled and always fall apart (not to mention their catalytic converters are CONSTANTLY stolen vs every other car), Atlases have electronics malfunctions (and for whatever reason, I have had multiple that after gassing them up 100%, the needle is still like 1/8-1/4 short). Tiguans electronic are bad too, the backup camera/center screens/blind spot monitoring fail a lot. Can’t speak for Fiat since I have not seen any in the fleets but would bet a lot of money against reliability.

I wish American manufacturers would care about quality. So sad.

WHAT!? You’re telling me that 6/10 of the cars mentioned were American brands and 2/10 were German brands??? GASP!!! 😱

I have to disagree big time on the Explorer. I have a 2020 and have had ZERO issues what so ever after 32k miles. I have also towed vehicles, boats, etc with it and its great. The real wheel drive platform beats all other SUV's in its class for drivability.

We own the 2021.5 VW Atlas SEL with 13k on the odometer. We have taken it in once for the scheduled oil change service (and they did a recall notice at the same time). No guarantees with any vehicle, including the Japanese models but it is nice that VW gives another year of warranty (4 year/50k). We made our choice based on the quiet ride and space. That third row is best in class and can seat adults comfortably (which was impossible on our Highlander). Like your videos but hope your dead wrong on this one.😅

Love your videos but the 2022 Chevy Traverse was a top pick by Consumer Reports. They also recommended the Chevy Equinox. Both were given a predicted reliability rating of Average. Why do you say to avoid them? Is your data current?
