As a former Protestant, it’s crazy how Protestants use other scholars commentary to determine whether their interpretation is legit but disagree with the Magesterium of the Catholic Church. They would rather look to other men that they choose to follow rather than the men appointed by God in the Catholic Church via Apostolic Succession. Not trying to throw shade but just observing an inconsistency of my former positions.

As a former Protestant, it’s great to see discussions like these. I do however wish that more and more anti-Catholics would actually do their research instead of regurgitating misinformation and misunderstandings on the internet or from what they heard from others.

True Christian unity requires everyone to belong to the Church of Christ, accept the doctrines/dogmas of the faith, and be subject and be in communion with God’s Vicar on Earth.

Mikes knowledge on scripture is incredible. The ability to argue your beliefs and back it by scripture after scripture is the work of the spirit

Revert to the Catholic faith. Was raised Catholic, poorly catechized, had an experience where I encountered the profound love of God for me as a teenager, fell away from the Catholic faith after marriage and children, returned to the Catholic faith with children approaching teenage years. Became a seeker for the truth and tested Catholicism as I catechized myself to see if the Catholic church was the true church and realized many of my beliefs were Protestant. Looking at both sides in depth, I have become devoutly Catholic in that process. My love of the Lord and His Church continue to grow daily.

These conversations are NEEDED. Who else is tired of the misconceptions over and over that are thrown at the catholic church?. This is what clears all that mess up. The holy spirit was truly present in this dialogue glory to God. God is Good.

I can say I had perfect assurance of salvation in my own mind before I became Catholic. I would have answered with full certainty that I was sure I was saved. This assurance did not endure when I changed my mind about the truth of salvation.
So I would have said everything Mike said and quoted the same Scriptures he quoted. Happy to be Catholic now.

I just started RCIA and I have to say Im throughly impressed with both sides ! Mike speaks well and I realised that the protestant doctorine of eternal security sounds really good to the ears. I can see why it still resingnates with so many . However Alex does a good job exsplaining that many places in scripture teach we must edure to the end .

This is exactly why we need the magisterium because then you get different opinions, different interpretations and thousands of different denominations, interpreting the gospel based on their own point of view. For us Catholics that can see & understand our own faith is a God given grace. We’re like millionaires in the spiritual world (if you know, you know)

Protestants can protest all they want, their theology is subjective.
