Is the new Kia EV3 the ultimate value electric car?

The world of electric cars is full of jargon but here’s one you’ll want to get used to: pounds per mile of range.

This is perhaps the most important EV term to emerge and, you’ll have worked out, refers to how far you can go on one charge versus the cost of the car.

In simple terms, it means “value”, and Kia reckons this, the new EV3, beats allcomers in this important aspect.

Does it? Let’s take it for a ride.

Thanks for reviewing the air-trim. Most reviewers only cover the top trims which are much expensive. This looks like a great car - good bye range anxiety!

I saw the Air trim yesterday and drove the higher spec demonstrator yesterday, and I'm absolutely smitten. A great looking car that does exactly what I want. Lowish insurance group, affordable balloon tyres that protect the rims and themselves from potholes, and way quicker than an equivalent ICE car. The huge range will be great for visiting the family and on long days out without needing to charge on the go. Can't wait to get my hands on it!

Had a short test drive in one yesterday - base trim in Ireland is called Earth 2… and still has lots of kit.
Having driven to garage in a Soul EV, the EV3 was noticeably more comfortable on the by-roads - as you mentioned. It’s a much more refined car than the Soul. Very impressive motor.

Very nice modern EV all-rounder.
With Kia's increasing reputation I think it will do very well.

It looks really good. Definitely one to consider when the lease on my current EV runs out.

Sensible car and much to recommend it - as long as you steer clear of the higher trim levels. This has to be the Qashqai of the future.

Good looking car with the a 7 years warranty. EU car-manufacturers can definitely learn from KIA.

Yet again, another video that is happy to mention "outside temperatures and how heavy your foot is" in an EV test, but absolutely zero mntion of the kind of driving you're doing. In stop, start traffic, like 90+% of driving done in London and the SE, you can be pretty sure that you'll do far better than in an ICE car.
FFS, we ALL know that range is affected by temperatures and a heavy right foot, could you guys, just once in a while, mention those conditions in which EVs EXCEL?

Is it true that the only way you can get a GT Line for under 40k (the luxury car tax limit) is if you go for a hideous orange colour? What are Kia thinking?

Get what you mean…. a boot up front would be a “Froot” I’d say..🤔 folk talk about a trunk and I’m looking for an elephant on screen somewhere 😂

Disappointed that you have to get the top spec if you want a heat pump.

Hey it go's round corners nice?

it would be and i love everything about it. however i think some fair criticism is the price for the GT and getting the same charge speed as the base. ~130 kw charging just doesn't cut it for the GT price

Please Do Not mislead public as true range is vastly different to the claimed figures.!!!
I test drove GT model twice moderately in town & motorway mixed in a moderate manner. Shocking discovery was that it gave only 3.2 kwh which equates to 245 miles range instead of 370 miles claimed !!! Wow, 130 mile short of the false inflated claim!! Acceleration is subdued too, noisy with 20" tyres and backseat accommodate only 2 adults.... Test drive it for at least 3 hours motorway and town to reveal poor 245 miles vs 370 miles range before part with your hard cash.

No rear wiper for the damp British weather. Kia tend to scare owners with unnecessary service work!😡

Auf Deutsch wird leider völliger Humbug übersetzt - ist aber schon sehr gute Comedy ...
