[In this video essay, Jeem explains the rationale behind fellow "Christians" denying that Mary is Theotokos--the God-Bearer--by examining the understanding of proper Christology.]

My guess is they think that since Mary is the mother of God the Son, they tend to think that makes her greater than Him or something, which is indeed a wrong way of seeing it

Thank God that the Lutherans raised me and not some Calvinist, anri-catholic branch. It allowed me to keep a connection through the liturgy and mother of christ, and eventually continue down the path back to orthodoxy. Ive met so many former lutherans in the orthodox church

I had a Seventh Day Adventist friend who had an issue with the term Theotokos because of exactly what you mentioned. I believe this same friend just had issues with his own mother...

Simply put, the Blessed Virgin St. Mary is the Mother of God Incarnate. If Christ honoured her in fulfilling the Law, then so should we.

I think the issue to Protestants the title Mother of God creates confusion. Jesus as God has always existed where as Mary is simply human with a beginning. If he pre-exist her then it confuses the issue of motherhood. This very topic was debated in the Ecumenical Council.
I think the literal interpretation of Theotokos as God Bearer is more palatable to the Protestant mind.
Sometimes the issue is just semantics and learning to see things from the other person's view.
It's to easy to argue rather than take the time to see what the other side is really saying.

*Luke 11:27-28*
_"And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked._
_But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it."_

Is there a difference between mother and bearer? Also, is marry is god mother does that mean that she made god?… no right? Can someone explain?… also I understand that Jesus is fully human and fully god. Marry might of birth the human in Jesus but the god(the son) in jesus all-ready existed. Please explain because I’m genuinely interested in Eastern Orthodox y

Jesus is not God, there is not a single verse in the Bible that states such and either a verse where Jesus himself claims such. This has been brought up by poor theology and misunderstandings of the Greek and Hebrew Translations. As we know, the Bible isn’t written in English. However, the early Christians never believed in a Trinity whatsoever and this theology was brought up after the First Council of Nicaea enforced it, and it is Roman Theology. There are also certain verses of the Bible where translations are added in such a way that in other translations those additions aren’t there (Example 1 John 5:7-8)? Why so? Because those additions weren’t there in any of the Greek Manuscripts or New Testament Translations before the 16th Century.

The Son is one third of the trinity. The Father is one third of the trinity and the Holy Spirit is one third of the trinity. These three are equally one third of the trinity. And these three are one: The trinity: God.

Like you said "God is 3 in 1" . The minute you separate 1 person of the trinity from the rest the concept of "God" falls and with it the term "theotokos" . More accurate is Christotokos. There is also the element of basphemy here. A human CAN NEVER give birth to God and by exalting a human - Maria - you almost add another person to the trinity. Now, we all know the reasons behind it, wicked and after the money and the power, the Greek "un-orthodox" "church" is trying to manipulate ignorant and simple believers, a practice that started from 2AD till today. So the problem is greater than a "wrong terminology" you try to say.
