One of the most damaging things that Biglaw firms do is perpetuate myths about themselves that gaslight their lawyers.

I have worked in the legal field for over two decades. Management is absolutely complicit. I've seen partners throw things across the conference room nearly hitting staff and this very same person was promoted to managing partner the next year. The pathological lying is another thing...that is indeed soul sucking behavior to run from.

This was pretty enlightening and funny! And there are plenty of weird and/or screaming a-holes at smaller firms too.

My theory why the partners say we have a "no assholes" policy is that as narcissists skilled in gaslighting (Academy awarding winning level) they are attracting co-dependents, INFJs or empaths to do the REAL work. They need us and they know their targets say they won't work for assholes, even though we always do.

Thanks for speaking out about this bs behavior. It's not just Biglaw, it's all the law firms. Egoism is so big in the legal community that this won't change.
