Because money shouldn't be the focus of professionals in service, no matter which industry, but especially Law.

I’m getting so tired of stuff like this. Stop going into fields just for the money.
Lawyers can save lives!

Too many wrong people are going into this traditionally noble profession for the wrong reasons.

My law teacher who is a really popular and good lawyer says the opposite. Might be because hes really good at his job but hes making tons of money without even working that much. he told us that he basically quit being a criminal defense lawyer and can take cases from time to time and still get tons of money and live comfortably everyday. he even told us he got paid like 100k for one client once ;-;

I don’t know anyone not working 60+ hours per week just to survive. Might as well do Big Law if I need two jobs to live anyway

This is what someone from a middle class background sounds like. If you come from nothing at all, you'll gladly take all that work

A good lawyer is a passionate one. Becoming an attorney is in the same category as teachers when it comes to prospective career attorneys—if you don’t have an authentic interest and desire for the position, don’t take it or pursue the field period. There are limitless jobs out there. & ANYTHING can make a lot of money if you’re willing to put in what it takes to make that money.
No, obviously being an attorney isn’t all “glamorous” on the outside, but if you look beyond the bench, stand, suits & gavel you’ll notice an admiration for justice, the concern for the well being of others, loyalty, courage & respect.
**DISCLAIMER: do not try to come for me about our justice system’s deformities. I’m well aware. But the structure & original intention was that of equality & liberty. & that is what I am speaking on.**

I am not a lawyer yet. I am case manager providing services to youth with mental health. And let me tell you, I work almost 13 hours a day and I do not get pay enough. I desire to become a lawyer one day. And with my case manager position, I am getting prepare so that when I become a lawyer and work for a law firm. I can remember all the hours I worked for a small bi-weekly paid. I do not gt enough for all the work I have to do as a case manager.

As a military veteran, the work hours would be a piece of cake.

Big Law firms typically only interview the students in the top ten percent of the class (top 5 percent for Cravath, Skadden, and other highly grade-conscious schools). 9/10 law students, on average, will never, ever, even get an interview for a summer position with a large law firm in their entire lives. The few who do get jobs in big law, well, the average tenure of a first-year associate at a large law firm is 4 years. It is common to spend 7 years--4Y college, 3Y law school, challenging 2-day Bar Exam--for a job that is over in 24-36 months.

Even the concept of billing dreaded me: if you bill too much for one work you're inefficient, if you bill too little you're not thorough.

People say that you shoukdnt get into this for the money . But the nauure jf work, the reason we work is to make money. 99% of people would never gi bavk to work of they were guranteed income . Also the amount of debt it takes tonget into law, you def exiect to make a lot .

Exactly this is why all high paying jobs are worthless, be it law, medicine, CPA, CEO, they are not worth it, it’s best to do a job u enjoy but atleast be able to pay the bills and have enough for leisure since all those high end expensive stuff if nothing but materialistic non-sense. Being rich is only amazing if ur a celebrity as in a famous actor, athlete, or YouTuber/social media personality.

And what about someone like me, that enjoys debate since a kid. And is real passionate about it. And is real passionate about criminal justice. I shouldn’t go after it because of all the points you made? Your point only applies to people who are not very passionate about the goal. And why go after something you’re not super passionate about.

For me it is and I own lol but for some it’s not. You can not go after money, you chase the field because you are in love with it.. that’s what makes all those crazy hours and work worth it. The money is secondary . Money isn’t the fulfillment, the work is if you love it.. it’s like being with the one you love all day every day. Yea you need some breaks but ultimately you’re good together. Chase the dream not the money.. you can get money almost anywhere, I love working, studying reading and teaching law. And even when nothing has to be done it’s on my mind. I’ll be watching some film like paper chase.. it just depends on the person. When you’re good, you might can make $600 off something that takes you 15 mins to do.. I had 1 client who ask me to make a will and poa for 2 people and literally all I had to do was type up the info once, print it, then change the name and print that a second time, boom $600 in 15mins really maybe an hr 15 if you want to count the type up part initially
