Women wear makeup because society place a lot of value on a woman's looks. She will be treated better in general if she looks good. The same with a man with money, people will treat him better if they know a man has money. Even though both things will make it easier to attract a mate, they go beyond just that.

I loved the way he turned this into his interview.

My understanding as a woman is that we wear makeup to appear more attractive to others be it men or other women. We all know pretty privilege exists, and as humans we will always want to grasp for whatever menial artifact we can find to advance ourselves in the social hierarchy.
That being said, we women also wear makeup to attract the opposite sex. We've seen beauty standards change over time. The Greek valued plump figures because it was a sign of wealth and being able to feed yourself. East Asia valued petite bodies and small feet. French aristocracy valued pale skin and rosy cheeks because it reflected your status, whereas darker skinned people were attributed to commoners who worked in the fields and got sun tanned.
For her to say it's because of male coercion is insanely ignorant to me.

I want her to tell me with utter and complete honesty that she NEVER wore makeup to look prettier and by extension more desirable to some man (or woman) she's sexually attracted to.

What's with the pointlessly irritating film grain and scratches?

At any time, any woman can make a choice to not wear make up. They are not slaves. If you choose to stop wearing make up and someone comments negatively on this, so what, who cares? What this is really about is control. Women wear make up to get something from others, both men and women. Validation, acceptance, a feeling of being valued and loved. To stop wearing make up is to unhook yourself from the opinions of others. You no longer get the validation from them, you may even get critcism, you will be ignored and passed over, but who cares. You will no longer be enslaved to the drug of attention and validation from others. The price of freedom is to be ignored, forgotten about, maybe even disrespected, but in truth, when you get attention and validation just because you wear make up, then you never had anything in the first place, it was all a lie. Nobody is controlling you, not men, not other women, whats controlling you is your own addiction to validation and attention. Give this up and you'll have yourself true freedom and peace in this world.

In my 26 years of life I’ve barely seen my mum wearing a makeup, she just doesn’t care much! And I have never seen anyone commenting on that!

In other words: He is way too smart for her to actually form a genuine argument and falls back on men bad grr

he circled back to the question when she tried to give him the run around. I absolutely love that about Dr. Peterson. He doesn't let people get away with anything.

I've always found excessive makeup to be a turnoff. I've also noticed women look at other women more than men. As if it is some sort of competition. And as for wearing obvious makeup and inappropriate clothes in the workplace..It's as if they are going on a date.

I’ve rarely worn makeup. Never had comments about it either. It’s just who I am. The problem probably comes if you usually wear it then stop.

I usually don't wear make up but for a few weeks at work I did. It felt nice to "dress up". But then I stopped. And guess what? I can't count how many employees and regular customers asked me if I were sick LOL.

Jordan, you already know that she is reacting emotionally. Her feelings are hurt. She knows that she cannot win the argument, and you know that you will not convince her. Impasse. She will attack you, not your argument.

Never try to win an Argument over someone that dealt with manipulative psychos for 20+years. Its like expecting to run against Usain Bolt.

I used to wear mascara and blush. One day when I didn't have time to apply it, someone told me I looked so much better. What had I done differently? That was more than 30 years ago. I haven't worn any makeup since then.

When I was a freshman in high school, some cheerleaders walked by the field where we were holding football practice. The assistant coach took one look at them and said, "Wow, they sure have their war paint on." In a way, it was kind of a silly comment, but I think it was also somewhat profound.

Women spend a lot of time, energy, and money on cosmetics and fashion, because they feel those things give them power. Men do the same thing with cars, sports, guns, tools, etc., and basically for the same reason.

Burden of proof is on him. She questioned the validity of his argument and instead of defending it, he asked her to provide an alternative answer. That doesn't defend his argument at all.

0:53 When he does provide an answer, he doesn't allow for a rebuttal. He demands her to present and argument for him to debate and her to defend instead.

He interrupts, talks over her, and deflects during this debate. It's very disrespectful. I expected better of him.

She exercises the right to think for men. I somehow think she would not have it the other way around.

I have always found girls/women that do not need or wear make up far more attractive, it's natural beauty

I don't like makeup. I've told all my SOs in life I prefer them without it. Not ONE of them ever stopped wearing makeup. Why? Cause it isn't about me.
