Windows 10 'ULTIMATE Performance Mode'

Is it just a gimmick, or a big feature for Windows 10?

Windows 10 Pro for Workstations is getting a new feature that sounds pretty exciting, but is it? It's called "Ultimate Performance Mode" and is a power scheme, like the current Balanced and High Performance modes. It's supposed to squeeze out the last bit of performance from your computer, but doesn't seem like it will make a huge difference. I personally think overclocking will still be the best way to significantly boost CPU performance (with adequate cooling of course), but this obviously isn't a bad feature to have.

How to activate ultimate performance power mode in windows 10?
1. Open powershell as administrator
2. Enter : powercfg -duplicatescheme
3. Find the ultimate performance power in your power settings.

a few years ago I set my computer to power saving mode, I have forgotten about it since. This effectively made my computer go from a haswell processor to a pentium 4 by limiting the cpu clock to ~1.00 GHz as you might have guessed this made the computer unusable, games would take forever to load and graphics settings would have to be lowered to the bare minimum to have something that resembles a half-good FPS. Today I found out about ultimate perofrmance mode, it has changed everything ! I can now actually access my PC's potential, I can play at good frame rates and work comfortably. Thank you microsoft (hard to believe I said it damn)

*ULTIMATE PERFORMANCE MODE* sounds really interesting... not gonna pay 120$ just to get like 5% more performance though haha

I just discovered your channel and I really like it, it's simple, clear, direct and informative. I don't have to watch a 5min intro where you talk about things I couldn't careless, keep it up! you earned a new subscriber.

Will it make my PC as fast as a Bugatti Chiron?

This has been possible to activate for years via external utilities.

Remember CPU core parking? We could disable that, but there was still something else to worry about, which is CPU frequency scaling. You can easily disable both with a utility called ParkControl.

Presumably this "ultimate performance" mode will merely disable both of them, avoiding the need for third party tools. Hopefully it will do more (like changing windows timer resolution settings to minimum, removing the need for yet another utility), but I guess we'll have to wait and see..

I agree with you can always tweak your OS settings (Overclock) and push your system to the max but Windows pro does have some secure features as well as VMware but you may never use it.

Most these new features mainly for server especially the RSFS, it is basically an upgrade to NTFS biggest benefit is the automatic integrity checking, in theory, no need for chkdsk and virtualisation of all storage on your computer on the server edition you replicate data between actual machine.

I'm not buying Windows 10 Pro for Workstations just for an "Ultimate Performance" mode lol.

Noticed this power option just appeared on its own, windows home version. Searched this to see if it actually did anything differently.

Did you know that you can get the "Ultimate Performance" scheme in *ANY* edition of Windows 10?
Even if it is the *Home* or *Pro* edition!

To do this, you need to:

1. Go into the search box or just click the magnifying glass icon right next to the Windows icon in the task bar, and then type in "cmd" (without quotation marks), right click "Command Prompt", and then choose "Run as Administrator".
It will ask you for permission to make changes to the computer. Click "Yes".
It then should bring up a Command Prompt window.

2. Paste in this command:
"powercfg -duplicatescheme (without quotation marks)
This should activate the Ultimate Performance power scheme.

3. Go to the search bar or the search button, and type in: "choose a power plan", then click "Choose a Power Plan" and, in that list, there will be the Ultimate Performance option!
