Pro tip: Ctrl+Shift+S takes a scrollable screenshot of the page in Edge!

I tried a 48-hour experiment of using Edge instead of Chrome as my primary browser and have not gone back to Chrome since then. Six months in and I am still on it. The performance upgrades are serious. RAM and CPU usage is down and the battery gets a real boost. The best part is the browser history, extensions all remained the same.

Your first point is actually what concerns me most about the egde browser: Privacy. I just think that Edge is not doing the best job for protecting my data and I also dont trust Microsoft to not use my Data, because they already did in other cases where said they wouldnt. All of the features you pointed out are available on other browsers with add-ons, so the only thing that could disturb me is privacy and this is the main reason im using firefox instead of one of the chromium derivates.

I'm a sysadmin and I've never liked the feel of Chrome. For every other customization and many more, there's Firefox. Chromium is incredibly rigid. That being said, Edge is fantastic and I do like using it for my work browser. It makes for a very efficient work environment. I use both Edge and Firefox in personal and work environments.

I never thought I'd find a Microsoft Edge Support group. I hope you're all doing well. Sent from the firefox gang.

Leila, you forgot the PDF capabilities Edge has. They are so much better than Chrome. As someone who doesn’t use Adobe Acrobat, Edge is a solid alternative

I do agree with you. I have used a lot of browsers including chrome but I found edge is better than all other browsers. Windows 11 with edge browser is really very comfortable, feature rich and very fast. I love the way edge handles pdf files. So many useful features. Really fantastic browser.

Ram management and battery consuming is another point in favor of edge, I noticed 15% difference in ram usage when opening 1 tab of a large google sheet file

Also my LG Gram is doing great with a minimum of 9h when pushing it hard (60% of my daily workflow is done on the browser in cloud apps)

the biggest thing for me is that edge supports 4k streaming for Netflix. Chrome's streaming on netflix is only 720p

I know this is very 1990s but I still love Mozilla Firefox. Please don't think less of me.

Yep, I dumped Chrome a year ago, but my nr 1 browser is Firefox. (I use it 99% of the time).
If you value your privacy, then obviously Microsoft as a company is getting worse all the time. Just look at what they are doing with Windows 11.
I think using Edge as your main browser is not a smart thing to do.

I liked the vertical tabs. However for the RAM, I tried to open same tabs in both browsers and the RAM usage was almost the same.

Main issue that we all know that Google sale our info to advertisers, but with Microsoft no one can tell for sure where the information will end up.

Anyway, nice video, this was the closest ever that someone bring me to use Edge

I totally agree. I converted to Edge as soon as it was launched. I knew it was going to be similar to Chrome because it’s based on the same code. However, the big reason for me was further immersing myself in Microsoft’s ecosystem. I already use Windows 10, OneDrive, Excel, Word, OneNote etc. You get greater synergy when using products made by the same company.

Recently i've switched to windows 10. And i've decided at least to look at the Edge. I thought i'll just play with it and will return to my Chrome. But after couple times of using it i've made the Edge my default browser. :)
Most of all i was amazed with immersive reader. I couldn't believe that this is not just a voice recording, so real this reading is, so i like to listen the books with this wonderful feature. And my favorite english voice is Dilara (Persian).🥰

I recently switched to Edge and like it a lot. One of the features I like a lot is open the pdf file in edge. You can do a lot of editing including adding text, write, erase and read where you can't do it in Chrome.

Chrome just hogs all your memory, so I definitely recommend Edge or Firefox

I’m deaf and I can’t ditch Chrome because they have awesome accessibility: Live Caption.

Some people doesn't understood that when Chrome take more RAM is not a bad think. If your computer need RAM, he will get that.
I usually use about 15-30 tabs so I need to have more RAM taken when i need all tab remain active. Especially if I had some video open, I want to easily switch between tabs and doesn't need to re-download videos and pages (stored in RAM).

Feature Multitasking seems wired to me. If you had many open programs (6-10) this will add another tile to the task switcher. But if you use only 2-3 programs and <5 tabs, why do you need that feature?
Sleeping Tabs is good for you if you open tabs that doesn't need to be active or you just open page and switch to another page. If you constantly use all of your tabs this feature isn't that good.
Some features are easily obtained by installing expansions (Vertical tabs).

Yeah, I have also switched from Chrome to edge because both give approximately the same Browsing speed. Provided that, Edge consumes less memory than Chrome. This would be definitely useful for Laptops(notepad series) users.
