Thanks for this video! It worked great for my older laptop which can't handle the full 5120x1440 resolution and my new 49-inch LG monitor. I never would have thought to use two cables. The LG monitor only has one HDMI and one DisplayPort connection so I'm using those two from my laptop. That allowed me to have two full resolution 2560x1440 screens side by side on the monitor just like you demonstrated. I had some trouble getting the "two" monitors to line up vertically, but then I found the tool ControlMyMonitor from NirSoft which allowed me to configure the positions pixel perfect, so the middle border between the two is seamless. Also, Microsoft Power Toys (with "FancyZones") allows me to have zones spanning the "two" monitors, so I can easily snap a window to the middle area and have other windows snap-to the left and right areas. Thanks again!

Appreciate this, got a 57 Samsung odyssey and I’m just powering with my hp envy 360 laptop and it look really bad, tried this! And bam! Huge difference! I was even planning on giving back my monitor, this gives me plenty of time to build a PC! And don’t have to rush as for now ! Thanks again!!

Thank you so much for this video!! I was thinking of buying one of the super ultrawide for gaming but also work and since my work computer is essentially the same as your laptop I was wondering if this setup works. You have confirmed it. So again thank you so much!!

Thank you man, was just trying to figure this out with my work laptop, annoying but it make sense to have the monitor detect the laptop as two separate sources even though it’s one.

Great trick. It works fine on the G95SC. I’m using the DP and micro HDMI for my work laptop and I put them around 150% each and the split works seamlessly. Thanks for the this trick.

Love the video. Having the same issue with my ultrawide. I also have a Thinkpad. Quick question - is there a slim docking station that you'd recommend?

Thank you for this video, I am in the same boat. I want to buy the G9 ultrawide for my work laptop T490 and your video explains it well.

What you really need is a display port cable that can handle a 4K display (DP 1.4). See, 4K display has more pixels than this 5120x1440 screen. If your computer has a USB-C with DP out, just plug in any 1.4 USB-C do DP cable and you're good to go. If your computer can handle a 4K display, it will handle this.
Also, even the basic MacBook Air M1 can run this screen at it's native 5120x1440 without issues.

Hey man! I was wondering if this monitor would work with a Lenovo P1 plugged in with a display port or an HDMI. I’m thinking about buying it but I want to make sure it works with my laptop first! Thanks and love the content!

I had the same idea on trying to find an easy to make my X13 pro laptop display on the G9, unfortunately it's a hassle to switch between pro and personal setup :( G9 is awesome but dual monitor setup with KVM was more practical for home office. I hope Lenovo/Intel will solve this, I can't figure out why it's able to handle 2x 2560x1440 but not 5120x1440 :/

connected this monitor to my Surface Pro 7 with a Microsoft surface dock 2 using a Microsoft USB-C to display port adapter (two other brands did not work for me). It is running at full resolution of 5120 by 1440. :)

How do you connect ThinkPad to the monitor? Do you have a display port as my ThinkPad only has HDMI. Is there a solution?
