Hey Chaps! What would be your DREAM Monitor? (for me... 38/40" 21 : 10 Ultrawide OLED 144hz, TB4, 1000nit)🤑

I've had the same LG ultrawide monitors (both 38 & 29" versions) in the last year and then bought a Samsung Super Ultrawide 49" at 120hz, and I must say...this LG monitor is tempting! Samsung is known for their screens but something about the LG monitors has felt more well rounded from the settings to overall reliability.

I am now using LG 40" 5K2K UltraWide 21:9 Monitor. It's gorgeous and sharp. The best monitor I've ever used!!

I think it's good for productivity, better than two monitors, but overkill for anything else. 21:9 is perfect for my needs.

im a 38" addict now. i cant give up the extra height that 3840 x 1600 resolution provides. i wish an oled option at 38" ultrawide would come out but until then im happy with my current alienware 38"

Thanks for the video, I was very impressed! I've seen it several times. I'm currently using three LG 27GN850 UltraGear Gaming Monitor 27" QuadHD Nano IPS 1ms HDR, 2560x1440, G-Sync Compatible and AMD FreeSync 144 Hz for about a year. Honestly, they tired me out and your video made me fall in love with the 49". I bought it today, I hope I'm satisfied!! thank you very much and I'll let you know 👍

That monitor looks absolutely amazing. The widescreen optimizes productivity at all times. Thanks for the review.

In my region, this and Samsungs Odyssey Neo G9 are about equal in price. For gaming, the Odyssey would be the better choice therefore, if you are prepared to deal with the downsides, which also come in the form of Samsung's inferior quality control and firmware issues as discussed in countless forums around the web. Then again, if productivity is a big focus, I would prefer this for the KVM switch and USB-C capabilities alone. Really nice to have the option in any case, while not going back to 60 Hz.

After having used a 49" CRG9 for the past 2 years, I would rather go for the 38" because of the screen height.
49" 32:9 makes for a good productivity monitor, but it's iffy for gaming, as you get extra.... but mostly unneeded peripheral vision that are mostly distorted due to rectilinear scaling.
Then there's the fact that you're still effectively using a 27" monitor... though one that's twice as wide.

I'd rather get an ultrawide monitor with the height of a 32" 16:9 .... something ultrawide of that height would be a 40" 21:9. So an LG Ultragear 38, Alienware 38, or MSI MAG38 would be nice.
But what I hope to see are 5K2K 40" 21:9 screens.

The upcoming Ultragear 45 looks attractive. But at 3440x1440, the PPI is poor. They should have gone for 5K2K.

Small correction @TheTechChap: It's not a 5K x 2K monitor. Just DQHD (double). The LG 34BK95U-W is a 5K x 2K monitor @ 5120 x 2160.
Fact: 2K, a cinema standard, is having 2160 pixels in one dimension, contrary to what marketing and 90% of humans call all 2560x1440 monitors - e.g., 2160x1080. Ergo, 1920 x 1080 is closer to 2K. Marketing, eh. 😀

I'm honestly not sold on these Ultrawides for these prices. They have their use cases but are just too expensive. You can buy two 4K 120hz 42" or 48" LG OLEDs once they go on sale next year (they always do) for that price. I'm not saying they can replace this for very productive work which can of course cause burn in but the prices are just ridiculous.

Got the Monitor 2 days ago. It's awesome. It's my first ultrawide. But I hate using it with mac. Even with Magent the window snapping isn't the same as in windows.

Just picked this one up in the US for $1100 shipped from Amazon which is a steal! I had to return my Samsung due to issues with popping etc. Looking forward to picking this getting delivered.

if your going this big you may as well get the 48 inch LG C2 OLED TV...and its probably cheaper as it's always on sale ! That's 4 x 24" equivalent in stacked format.

If its not oled I'm not trying to hear it. Going forward all monitors should be oled or mini led with minimum 1000 zones

Are there any drawbacks to running this i n PBP?, like can it maintain it's 144hz on both sides?

I have Samsung 49" CHG90 for some time, in my experience best way to use a big monitor like this one is to connect it with 2 cables to your PC, and keep one side 21:9 (in my case I have only two modes 2x16:9 or 21:9 and 11:9 ), it is much better because you can use "full screen" mode on each "side" of the screen. Keeping it like one big screen is not natural at all.

Thanks to your video I just ordered two of those 49 inch monitors. They will be here next week.

Something like this with more curve would be the ultimate for racing games. Because it kind of immitates how your real vision would be looking straight ahead in the cockpit of a car being able to see what your passing on the left and right out of the corner of your eyes. For first person shooters though, it would be cool but too much to keep track off having to turn your head too much. But if your main use was just using dual display mode, it would be quite nice.
