Seems to me like a bandwidth issue.

Hdmi 1.4 is 10.2gb (4k @ 24hz)
Hdmi 2.0 is 18gb (4k @ 60hz)


Then there’s is hdmi 2.1 48 gb bandwidth
And displayport 2.0 with 78gb bandwidth.
