I bought myself a huge 49 inch ultrawide monitor, and it has changed the way I use my PC for productivity, gaming, video editing, and pretty much everything else!

for engineering work, having a drawing, a checklist, and a spec up at the same time would be amazing

Using one 49" monitor since the beginning of COVID, as suddenly I was at home and did need to do a lot of programming for my internship aswell as not being able to travel for a while, and till this day I don't regret it at all. Started studying again after that internship, and I work so much more efficient due to this monitor.

Pro tip for FancyZones- if you shift+click and drag over the line where zones are split, the window will resize to include all those zones. So you could, for example, take the setup you have now and also bisect the screen horizontally and have six zones. Now, by hovering over the lines you get the same functionality you had before, plus space to make smaller windows with ease.

And, on the topic of D&D campaigns: it doubles as a very high-tech DM screen, too. 🤓😂

I can't even get this thing in EU, the cost of shipping is too damn high

This is the practical example I've been searching for. I like. Thanks.

This has opened my eyes. Am thinking about buying a gaming pc to run Microsoft sim and I think a screen like this would make it an awesome experience

I have actually over the past year or so been considering one of these monitors. Thanks for the review! Probably going to wait for now on the purchase.

I’ve had the Samsung 49” G9 awhile now and by far the feature I love the best is connecting two computers to it and invoking Picture in Picture mode which you can use to give each computer half of the lcd and then you can full-screen each computer on it’s own side. This configuration is huge when it comes to studying, having an available lab computer right there and for developers. Awesome!

Yes. I daytrade FUTURES and I need 3 charts visible all the time. The 49" makes it heavenly. I can have browser plus the executing software for my futures properly dispersed and no congestion.

Love FancyZones. I started using it the day I got my ultrawide. I went from dual 24" to a single 32" curved ultrawide.

I had considered going for a super ultra wide monitor for my new PC setup, but went for a regular ultra-wide instead to save on costs. For ~€550 (found it as well for $550 in the US on amazon) got a 34" 144Hz 1ms 3440x1440 (21:9) curved monitor and I'm honestly extremely happy with it. You still need a beefy GPU for a monitor like this, and the productivity benefits are a bit less; but still, the 21:9 is so nice for regular use as well as for gaming and I don't think I'll ever go back to 16:9.
So, if you are considering this but don't want to spend a fortune, consider scaling it down a notch, as you still get a lot of the benefits from an ultra-wide at less than half the price.

The price of these 49 "5k monitors is a complete absurd ... Just take a look at the very low pixel density ... 109 PPI vs 140 PPI on 32" 4k display. Many people talks about productivity, but for the price of the one of these 49 "monitors, it's possible to buy 2 very good 32" 4k displays like eg: LG UltraFine 32UN880 or even 3 or more mid-range price 27"/32 "4k displays and they will be as much or even more productive as one ultra-wide.
I don't know about you, but for me PPI matters...
Additionally if one of the two or three monitors will fail, my productivity will not be disturbed while waiting for the broken one to get back from repair... not everyone is keeping old backup monitor in the basement.

Love your feedback and insights and the down to earth way you share your thoughts. I'm convinced and added this to my shopping list for Black Friday. Thank you.

Have thought about one of these. For me, I use three monitors, and use them independently of each other while running sdr radio software. These large screens sure are clean

As a game developer, this is the BEST 49" review for those who know they need it! Thank you

*_If you play MOBA games, you get the advantage of seeing your enemies approach earlier with this ultrawide._*
*_Many isometric RPG's also get this benefit from an ultrawide._*

Just ordered a 49 monitor myself, the taskbar on the side instead of the bottom is a great idea. Will try that myself.
