In 2017, Buick asked us to envision a new type of Buick. One that was not only built overseas, but designed to compete in the global compact luxury utility segment. And now that Buick is exclusively an SUV brand here, there’s more riding on it than ever. So let’s take a look at the redesigned Buick Envision.

I don’t know about y’all, but I miss the sleepers and land yachts of yesteryear.

I really wish we still had the Regal and the Riviera and LaCrosse

0:28 a really overlooked part of Motorweek is how after 30 years they're still coming up with the fitting yet catchy titles.

Drove this. It's much nicer than I expected. I was pleasantly surprised.

I’ll take a Park Avenue any day or a Grand National.

Who would have thunk today’s 4000+ lbs cars all run on 4cycl turbos

I think Buick has an international identity now.
Enclave = USA
Envision = China
Encore GX = Korea
Regal (discontinued) = Germany

Thanks for including full acceleration/braking/handling testing! Reviews can feel incomplete without these results. Is Mason-Dixon dragway a replacement for 75-80, or an alternate?

This 2021 Envision looks the part and smokes the Acura RDX in 30-50 mph, 50-70 mph and best the 60-0 mph stopping 15-feet shorter in Car & Driver testing. Such good price too!

It's hard to say buy a Buick when they don't even support the American market or American workforce.

Two inches lower than the previous model... a few more inches lower we will come to a full circle and be back to a car proportions.

I'll take a CX 5 turbo or a RAV4 prime ....or a LeSabre.

Chinese Nationalist Leader Chiang Kai Shek was known to owned a Buick during WW2. US Ambassadors to China at that time all rode in a Buick. This is why Chinese view Buick as a premium car brand, rode by head of state and American Officials.

When I visited Beijing 3 years ago, I couldn't believe how may Buicks were on the roads, many of them were subcompacts and kinda ugly though. GM hit gold with the brand BUICK in China!

I love watching the retro reviews where I see all the interesting cars USA had but we didn't. Now many of your cars look just as bland and boring as ours. It's always great to see John though. What a legend!!

yup.

The reason Buick has lost the distinction of being a "premium" brand is because all of the mainstream brands have caught up to and surpassed Buick in many ways. More power, better fuel mileage, classier interiors, more features, better reliability and a lower price tag. Styling is subjective but there are a lot of good choices. The last generation Regal/TourX failed because the price to value ratio was below the mainstream offerings.

Crossovers, SUV"S and Trucks are the hot sellers right now. That's not changing anytime soon. Passenger cars (sedans) are becoming extinct. Even the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord are not selling like they used to, but Honda and Toyota are not abandoning them. I don't know if it is more an indictment of the segment itself or Ford and GM.
