This is a Motormouth couple car review of the Buick Envision compact premium SUV. This new Buick competes in the meat of the compact premium space but on power and price it is more in line with the small premium SUV class. This new 2021 Buick Envision It’s wider, longer and lower than the outgoing model. It offers a sportier and athletic exterior and it certainly packs a punch. It has a turbocharged 2L 4-cylinder engine with a 9-speed automatic transmission, 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The base model comes with standard FWD and most trims are equipped with AWD. The Envision comes standard with LED headlights and taillights, 18” wheels, a 17” spare tire, hands-free power tailgate, forward collision alert, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. The Envision comes standard with a10.2” touchscreen, 4.2” diagonal colour driver information centre, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, heated front seats, heated leather wrapped steering wheel, hands-free power tailgate, forward collision alert, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert along with remote start. This is pretty impressive for the base model. The Essence middle trim comes standard with an 8” diagonal driver information centre and cluster display, heated second row seats, driver seat memory, perforated leather appointed seating. If you want Navigation, HD radio, head-up display, Bose 9-speaker sound system, front & rear parking assist and 20” wheels, you have to add the technology I package for $2,995 CAD. The panoramic power moonroof is also extra, $1,795; our test model does not have a moonroof. The Avenir top trim comes with the Bose 9-speaker sound system, driver massage seats, head-up display, perforated leather-appointed seating and a panoramic sunroof. Add the Technology II package for $2,495 and you get everything in Technology I along with adaptive cruise control, enhanced automatic emergency breaking, automatic parking assist and a rear camera mirror. This new Buick Envision is made in China and imported here to North America. Do you care or would you not consider it because of where it is made?

Bought a 2021 Essence black on black with panoramic roof, chose FWD. I’ve had it for 3 months and are very pleased with everything this car offers. The push/pull shifter is awesome I do not miss the big protruding shifter. The quiet and smooth ride is outstanding. Love this Buick.

Zack and Andrea, you set exactly the right tone. All of your reviews are so informative, yet there is a fun, informal delivery. You both do outstanding work!

Andrea! I am with you on the sunroof comment.! Why people buy cars without them blows my mind ! If you don’t want to use it close the shade and it doesn’t even get in “the way.”
But when it is in use it’s a gem!

Yes made in China, yes some people do freak out... but Zack already said JD Power consistently ranked Buick top 10 quality brands last 10 yrs! Not sure what else to freak out about, and this Envision looks great 👍

When I thought of Buick, my mind still with those LeSabre, Park Avenue, Roadmaster, Century and Regal in the 90s. Fast foward to today, I have seen more Buick in a Chinese city for one hour more than in Vancouver for a year. Its like a Chinese rather than American brand.

Another great review.

I purchased this exact car recently. I must say it is an amazing car. Better than a chevy and more of a value than the thousands more they want to charge for a similar competitor. The gear shifter is one of my favorite things about this car. It took me about 2 days to get used to it, but now it is so much easier and faster than a traditional shifter. Plus it gives you more room in the center. The only gripe i have is the hill start assist, it really is a problem. I think an update could fix it though. Also, it seems to like to hold gears, especially going downhill. I dont like going downhill at 3000+ rpm in a car that redlines at 6. Maybe another software update? Other than those two things, i dont regret my purchase and would recommend it to anyone who wants more luxury than a chevy, but doesnt want to pay cadillac prices.

I'm seriously considering a Buick Envision. My cousin has had a Buick Verano for 8 years and hasn't had any problems. She uses it for work and play and loves it. I've been in it and, aside from its small size, love it. The Envision is the perfect size between and Enclave and Encore. I currently own a '19 Kia Optima EX 1.6T with 106, 000 trouble-free highway miles. I have 3 more years till retirement and want something that'll get through those years and many more after, with no commuting. Since we plan to relocate I want something almost paid off by the time I buy a new house so only my monthly payments will be on my credit report and not a new purchase under 2-3 years. The Envision looks like it'll be a fine choice. Thanks for this review.

This is a great little SUV. Helped my mom buy one back in the spring. We lucked out and found a dealer who was willing to do a GMS factory deal in an age of markups everywhere. Also got 0% for 36 months instead of paying cash. She got the "base" Essence model but it has the ST sport package with plenty of equipment. They detuned the engine for MPG. Which is fine in the age of $6 gas. It still has plenty of power. I had a 455hp Camaro until recently. The deep metallic red with blackout ST styling looks great!

Another great review! Didn't realize Buick's reliability was that good. Something to consider.

Just stumbled across this video and could not agree more. I bought an Essence with the technology package including a sunroof in early March. The ride overall is great, fuel economy as published or better. Seats very comfortable and enough storage space for all your vacation travel needs. My only negative is that the 20 inch wheels that come with the tech package have low profile 245/45 tyres which amplify some of the bumps along the road.

We got this one in the Essence ST trim with sun roof in white. It really looks great with the blackout grill and 20" wheels. So very happy with it.

I must admit that the Buick Envision is an eye catcher! I happen to notice it more and more and it gets my attention every time I see someone driving it. I have a 2016 Nissan Murano that I enjoy driving but if I had to make a another purchase it would be the Envision for sure!

i actually prefer the push button shifters over the old school traditional ones. I got used to them with my MDX and it's really easy to get used to it.

I bought this car 3 months ago and I love it... my interior is creamy white and my car is a Smokey grey...

if you don't like a sunroof, keep it closed all the time
the future car owner will most likely be influenced by presence or not of the sunroof

Andrea has her sales hat on! Thursdays are ur only day off? Great content. The SUV is Looker, but I don't think it will put a dent in the market. Also the build location, as u see turns off some folks. Reminds me of another gm product which left Ontario for somewhere else, right after we throwd $$$ to help Oshawa plant. Cheers
