Myofascial Stretching and self myofascial release are unique self-treatment techniques that follows the principles of Myofascial Release (MFR) as developed and taught by John F. Barnes, PT. I teach this method of self-treatment and recommend the Myofascial Stretching Book a Guide to Self Treatment to all of my patients. It is similar to using a foam roller, but much different. Myofascial stretching feels awesome and results in permanent lengthening of the body's connective tissue that can dramatically improve your health and quality of life. The myofascial release techniques employ sustained pressure using a small inflated ball and active elongation into restrictions in the fascia.
