I got burnt out on maintaining FDM printers and switch over to resin printing for several years. I saw the initial reviews for the P1P early last year and it reignited my interest in FDM. No regrets. It is the perfect addition to any shop or makers space if you want minimal hassle and rapid prototyping.

I love my P1P. It's a stripped down, no frills, super easy to maintain machine. I have a P1S as well for the occasional ABS/ASA print. If i were to add another printer, I'd go for another P1P as i mostly print PLA/PETG, and I'd prefer to stick with one type of replacement parts. The A1 is probably just fine for my needs as well, but im already in this lane, so I'll keep riding in it!

I had several FDM printers, cheap ones, expensive ones, fast ones and did a lot of tinkering. The P1P improved on all of them. It is the first printer I can use as a easy as buying stuff on amazon. I need something real quick, start the printer and without fail for 12 months, it provided my with everything I need. It changed 3D printing again for me. My actually printer is less reliable.

It's interesting to see you going back to their older printers and really seeing how they've refined things over time for their newer models. It will be interesting to see what this line of printers looks like after it's updated.

Just ordered the A1 based on your review even thought I wanted the P1s. Really couldn’t justify the extra £300+ for the work I do on it

I bought the x-1 carbon just because of the display and the addition features. For beginners I would go with the A-1 and the A-1 mini. I believe the market for the P1P and the P1s is those that want or need a little better print quality and the ability to add more AMS to the unit. I think users that have more than one printer would be more likely to use this printer for printing PLA, the printers above this one would be used for those that require an enclosure. I’m looking at there printers for a person that has 6 bed slinger’s and the X-1 carbon. Because I hate doing maintenance on all of the bed slinger’s I’m dumping 5 of them and replacing all with just 1 A-1 with a AMS. Why that printer over the others I have the X-1 that I can add extra AMS too, I printer most models with 4 colors if you need more and you have it setup right on the slicer you can it pause the print and change colors in the AMS. It’s all about the Display screen after I have the prints setup I can walk over pick which toy (see the Model) I want to print change the colors. I’m printing toys for the children’s cancer center so I want to see which colors I change too and which models I will print this month. So if one of the big just would not buy it is the Display and the the A-1 are just a little more user friendly with the ease of changing the print head. However I would buy any of Bambu printers because they just work, they tell you what maintenance should be done to keep them up they are almost idiot proof.

Sounds like clickbait but i assume its going to be "Don't buy a P1P buy a P1S instead"

Yup, agree. Skip the P1P and go straight to the P1S. Did that and have never regretted it and if you can afford it do add the AMS, it sure is a brilliant thing.

I got my P1P before the p1s got announced, i'm happy enough with it, especially since i got an aftermarket enclosure kit (which basically turned it into a p1s)

The P1P made more sense when it released when the only other Bambu Lab alternative was the X1C. Now that the A1 and P1S exist, it sits in an awkward middle ground where it lacks a lot of features but is also kind of pricey compared to the other models. I've had my P1P for about 9 months and I love it, but if I were in the market to buy one now, I probably would go for the P1S instead.

I have a P1S with AMS and I like it. I wouldn't say it's completely idiot proof but it's been a reliable printer so far when used with good filament. General build quality, print quality and speed have been good. Compared to my old Ender 3 Pro it's about 3-4x the speed. It was amazingly well packaged. Prints are super crisp. The AMS is handy even for single colour prints, not having to mess around changing filament. Downsides would be crap camera and the way gcode has to go up to the cloud just to come back down to the printer. It would be nice if there were a kit to upgrade it fully to an X1 - better camera, mainboard & control panel. I wouldn't be surprised if someone like BigTreeTech produced something at some point, turning it into a pure Klipper device. I've also played around with Orca Slicer which is branched from Bambu Slicer which is branched from PrusaSlicer which is branched from Slic3r. I like the UI of Bambu Slicer & Orca.

My biggest issue so far, which was a serious issue, is I put some old filament into it and the filament snapped just above the hotend. So it could neither be forced through or retracted and the AMS started sending errors to the printer. Because it's a direct drive, not bowden I had to disassemble the print head and replace the nozzle. I'm sure I can extract the filament from the old nozzle somehow but it really wasn't a fun issue to clear.

I think you can navigate sdcard files with a preview for p1 series on bambu hambu or bambu slicer since the last firmware from 2 weeks ago. You also get the noise cancellation that appeared with A1 so bambu care about their older printers if they can push innovation via software updates 😊

If you struggle to choose between p1p and s if you aim to print pla only and get as much speed and quality possible p1p is better due to its coreXY open frame (pla prefer open case for cooling reasons) if not go for a S. And if want pla +petg or other filament you can print from an open printer but you need to print it slower A1 is really a perfect choice

if you’re thinking you might eventually want AMS, and might eventually want to print other materials - then the P1S is a no brainer. At least for the UK you can’t buy the P1P with AMS combo. If you buy the P1P and then AMS separately its actually more expensive than the P1S combo right now, and you’ll sitll have a non-enclosed printer

I Love my P1P and for the money It will pay for itself even when the repair costs get out of hand which could take years still. So far I have 8000 hours on my P1P and I have never needed to replace a part yet. I have it running 24/7

Love my P1S with AMS. Punches way above its price point.

I began with 3D printing 6 month ago and ordered a P1P because It was cheaper (in case I drop the hobby again) and to have easier maintenance/less afraid to break something.
I never regret that decision because I only print PLA/TPU/PETG.
However I'm waiting for a XL Bambu where I would buy the premium version this time

Also ordered a GKTwo as printing figurines is really frustrating on FDM

4:08 Sending prints to a printer without an SD Card does not technically (or obviously, as you say) require an online account.

You talk like my kid when he is excited i love it, im the same, we will talk all the air out of our lungs 🤣

Well i have had more print fails on the p1s core xy printer than any of my bed slinger's and to be a just printer type of person you still need to know how printers work and how to fix them because they will break down at some time its a nice idea that bambu has printers for everyone but the real fact is 3d printing will always be for makers and tinkers its a hobby not a coffee machine or microwave.
