How to Install RAM

Need a bit more memory? Installing more RAM is an easy upgrade that can noticeably improve the performance of your computer.

Before you get started, make sure you have the right type of RAM for a proper configuration in your computer. RAM is like batteries -you’ll want to use an even number of the same size and speed. If you want 16 gigabytes of memory, you’ll want to use a pair of 8 gigabyte sticks, or four four gigabyte sticks.

Also make sure your computer can support the speed and type of the RAM you’ve purchased. Most modern computer support DDR3 up to 1600MHz, but you’ll need to check your current setup and motherboard specifications to know for sure.

you don't NEED to use the same size sticks, i run 2x4GB stick + a 8 GB stick (2x4 is what the PC came with) they all run smoothly on most motherboards you don;t even really need the same speed sticks either (x1333 combined with x1600 for example)

I followed this video and now I have no video or keyboard signal…my friend said it may be because I didn’t unplug the power cable when installing the new RAM and may have fried the mobo and now I need a new one… it’s a pretty vital detail you forgot to mention in this video, so you should revise or edit this video guide so that issue doesn’t happen to other people bcuz it’s infuriating and a total waste of money that could have been avoided so easily

For the anti static wristband to work do i need the psu plugged in but turned off? Unfortunately i cant just plug my psu as it is connected to my desktop so when i plug the psu im plugging my desktop meaning that all of my components are running even if the psu is off can i reseat the ram sticks whilst the desktop tower is plugged in?
