We stumbled upon a seemingly overgrown and abandoned house. We asked the neighbors if anyone lived there, a man quickly and dismisively brushed us away threatening to call the sheriff if we didn’t leave. Despite us leaving (the road in front of the property he was standing on) the man still called the Sheriff.

We decided to find someone else to help and ended up at the home of a veteran we have helped before. To our surprise, we later saw four sheriff crusiers on the street we had been on, even though the house we were at was 10 miles away. The cops never approached us, but they kept an eye on us from a distance and would drive by the lawn we were working on.

Most of this country is like that first guy these days unfortunately. Deputies seemed to be just following up on the jerk’s complaint with all the scammers that unfortunately prey on disaster victims, once they saw you were kosher they left, which is the good way to respond to that kind of call. You handled yourself well with that guy too.
