Things you should know before buying a Shapeoko CNC

Today I will show you all the things I wish I would have known before I bought my Shapeoke XXL CNC.

I've watched 1000's of videos on 100's of topic. This is my first comment ever, Hand's down one of the best videos I've ever watched. If I don't start getting what I'm looking for rather quickly, I go to another video. You're a natural--kept my attention the entire time, ever second was valuable info--thank you!

I definitely don't recommend buying endmills from those sites. just buy cheap bits from ebay starting out. for wood, mdf, and plastics I used some cheap bits from ebay that cost me 10 dollars for 10. Only time I get nice bits are for metals like aluminum where I'll spend a proper amount. I was an early adopter so I've had it for a while and can definitely recommend starting with those cheaper ones!

I bought a shapoeko 3 XXL about 10 months ago. I wish I had a time machine( 10 months of added expense, crashes and ridiculous time spent trying to get it squared and trammed using shims, and other methods to try to fix a out of square badley designed machine). I ordered a onefinity and the XXL is basically going in the trash Jenn from suck it and now onefinity is the definition of a wonderful business person. I couldn't be happier with the way she does business!

Great video really appreciate the effort here. My XXL is coming tomorrow and it's just great to have guys out there that care like this. They now supply their own router I guess it's a Makita knock off. I sort of wanted the DeWalt for remote speed control and a few other features but they don't sell it anymore or the Makita so we'll see how this new router works out. I'm going to wire in some high-brightness LEDs near the router. Anyway, you rock bro.
By the way I'm building an enclosure within about a week it's totally critical that I have the enclosure setup.

You've installed your Y axis cable harness incorrectly. You can refer to your own photo at 1:53 to see the correct way

I have been looking at the Shapeoko XL for 3 years. Every year tthe Shapeoko web sit has a Black Firday sale. A free router and free shipping up to 12/1/19. I think this is the year to finally get it and start creating.

Hi...just set up the shapoeko 3XXL and downloaded vcarve pro. Carbide didn’t offer the 611 anymore so just got their router since I already own a 611 which I really love in my shop. Really enjoyed your presentation and info about several bits I wanna purchase aside from the ones I already received. I must say, carbide’s customer service has been impeccable and easy to talk with their tech, Brandan Lee who is very helpful and even more than willing to help. Wanna see more videos from you and will be subbing to your channel to keep on on what you can show us on the machine. My wife already know how to do cad/cam and convert files, now just gotta learn bits, speeds, depths, etc. thanks for all your help and keep the information coming. 👊🏼👊🏼
