DSG7 DQ200 Gearbox Mechatronic – Unable to select Gear – Fixed

The VW/Audi group DSG7 DQ200 mechatronic will typically cause gear change problems on the vehicle.
However it’s not always the mechatronic unit that causes drivability problems.
Gear selector fork failure will cause the symptoms outlined below and if not rectified can cause serious damage to the gearbox.

Common Failure Symptoms:
• Gears Grinding/Crunching
• PRNDS Lights Flashing
• Unable To Select Gear 6
• Unable To Select Reverse
• P072C – 01851 – Stuck In Gear 6

Does the mechatronic unit control the hydraulic with PWM. Looking at SSP-390 it appears to have a 3 position valve for each gear pair but the control valve has only *one* solenoid and a return spring, therefore, I assume it would need to be controled with with a PWM signal to get the 3 positions?

Hi - I have replaced the bearing with standard as it had snapped and was stuck to the magnets used to operate the Mechatronics unit. The fault I had initially was reverse, 2nd, 4th and 6th gear only. I have put the box back in the car and all seemed well, until again I only had reverse, 2nd, 4th and 6th. It would reset if I turned the car off and on. But now I do not have any forward gears, only reverse. Do you have any ideas?

yep, exactly what i had, i cant put into reverse and the gear stuck at gear 6 (dont remember the code) it was an awfully painful to unload the gearbox

my VW GOLF MK7 gear is stuck in parking and the P is blinking. My mechanic says the mechatronic unit has failed and i have to replace the whole gear box. Can you repair mechatronic unit without having to replace the whole gear box?

I have a DQ250 that drives up until the end of 3rd gear. And won’t shift into 4th. BUT if I put it in neutral, if I’m at speed it will skip 4th and go to D5 or D6.. is that clutch pack, synchro, or mechatronic???

It jerks into gear and seems to only change to 3 5 and 7 Also lose reverse have to stop and start the car.

Good morning, I have a problem with my DS gearbox. The light is flashing soon as you turn the ignition on when is in Park and the same thing it’s stuck in park I have to open the cover press the button at the side to drop it into park I park into neutral when I do that the light is still flashing And the car won’t start and it’s saying PNN to put it into them gears to make it start, but when I’m doing that it’s not doing nothing car still won’t start

I have a similar issue, stuck in gear 2 and sometimes it moves to 4 and jumps to 6. Computer says transmission shifting sensor. I wonder if that’s the problem if u could help.

I had this issue back in December and ended up loss of all gears. Thankfully it was my slider bearing and was fixed but I’m afraid it was a like for like repair. Cost me £1400 to repair.
