This is a simple and reliable method and quite a few people have repurposed microwave oven transformers for spot welders. The output voltage can be as low as 2V, but there’s around 600 amps for very rapid heating of the work piece! What would be nice here are interchangeable tips of different shapes for spot welding, brazing pipes of larger diameters, maybe even thawing frozen sections of water pipe. 👍🏼👍🏼

I guess you had to do it fast enough so a person can't tell if you took out the primary or the secondary coil on that transformer. Oh well. I stopped the video three times to see if I could see it. From the look of it you took out the high voltage seconday think coil and replaced that.

Well done, I am impressed, many of these sort of things show poor fit and finish, but you took good attention to the small details to make a real tool with good safety, you're an asset to your job and family, !

As good practice, if you modify device or housing so parameters change, remove stickers and write the info on the frame with name of the device it is, so if say you kick the bucket and family member that has not seen it comes around and handles it, they wont kill them selfs with your contraption. Same if accident happens, you dont want to put first aid in harms way or burn your house down if it it was powered on when you got knocked out. You did it in this video but many dont, so just something for folk to consider when building DIY things

Very surprised with the performance. I have the top power brazing unit from American Beauty Model # 10557-SZA 1800W system and this appears to take just a couple more seconds to heat the joint. My unit weighs 40 lbs though and I hate lugging it around. I have a smaller Model # 105L7 1100W, but it takes forever to do copper to copper. Hard to believe that this is able to do what my 1800W system can do, but I am certainly willing to build one and see for myself! I also need to do copper to steel, so I'm curious about the performance there also. Thanks for the great video!
