As a stepparent, I'd say there were numerous positives. But a whole load of negatives. If you're good with never coming first in the eyes of your woman, having significantly diluted resources during the best part of your working life, and receiving little appreciation for the sacrifice -- then date that single mother. Marry her.

If none of that sounds appealing, then RUN not walk away to greener pastures.

As a divorced parent i thought about and even tried it because our kids were the same age...but it’s probably worse..I got crap for why I FAVORED MY KIDS...like ummm..wtf do you expect..?

The worst feeling I ever experienced was when one of my Mom's boyfriend made me feel like a Burden.

Never will I make my Girlfriends boys feel like that.

When dating a Single Mom. You are also dating her Children. You have to be a Father Figure to her kids. Otherwise get lost.

You have to love her Children Unconditionally. You must also remember you are not their to replace their Father. You are there to be a Father type role in their life with the mind that they have a Father(Not every case).

Never speak bad about their Father. That will tear down their self esteem.

I have been married twice with women with children, and I have lived with women with children. Most of the women that I have had serious relationships in my lifetime always had children, and I came up on the losing end every single time. I am now 62 years old and will be 63 in August. I have no money put away from retirement, and I live in a shack. For years I was bitter, but I have learned to let that go because I have gained a great deal of wisdom from first hand experience, which I know is priceless. I was engaged to a woman with one child and it turned into a train wreck really fast. The main issue was her past and how she raised the child before we met. There really aren't any advantages to dating a single mother. You've been warned :-)
