In this video we explain how you can wire LED strip lights for larger projects (those requiring more than 5 metres of LED tape).

We advise on:
- The best way for wiring
- How to avoid voltage drop
- Can you wire multiple strips back to one power supply?
- How to wire LED strip lights for a coving / rectangle over 5m

When extending the power strips, do you just connect the power lead to the extensions, or all the RGBW plus the power lead?

Thanks for the detailed information. My LED flickers when dimmed, and it is a dimmable set. Where would you start the troubleshooting? Dimmer switch, power supply or wiring? Thanks

Very imformative, what about extending the 2 × 24v cables when it's outside in a garden? Thanks

As all those options are wired in parallel, am I right to assume the length limit is determined by the amp capacity of the copper strips in the lights? I'm wondering whether I can make use of a 50v supply to power four 12v led strips wired in SERIES to form a voltage divider into 4 equal ~12 volt runs (power is ample and the copper strips are only then carrying the same amperage as the leds would drain in parallel from a 12v supply).

Hi I’ve had a 5 metre standard RGB+1 extra terminal with an arrow symbol and had no problems even though I’ve made one right angle joint and a straight joint piece but all of a sudden they’re pulsing/ flashing ?? Not sure if the transformer/controller is faulty ? Or dodgy connections in the connectors I’ve installed ( in a bathroom so subject to moisture ) ? Thanks

Hi I am putting these lights in my kitchen. I have 20m of 12v white led strips. I need to know what vault and amp power supply I need. As I think from what I can understand the one that is supplied is for up to 6m. Can you help please.

I have a question. I got a 5 w 5 meter strip but I’m using a 100 W transformer. So am I consuming 100 wats when the led is turned on or am I consuming what the strip is rated.

Can you connect two 12v 60w power supplies in parallel? For the AC and DC current?

At 5:49 you talk about connecting LED strips around corners with small "link cables". I am planning to do this myself with 1.5mm^2 2-core cable, but I wanted to know what the limitations are. Could I cut a 5m strip in half and reconnect it with 3m of 2-core, and still run it off one driver? I'm not sure whether I should go by the overall cable length (8m) or the total length LED strip (5m). Thanks!

Im looking at doing a project at home where i want to replace our normal strip light over our stairs with LED strip lights on the steps themselves. Our stairs are 70cm long and we have 9 steps. Would i be able to put 9 lengths of strip lights in parallel on to one driver? I've worked out ill need a 40w driver minimum.

Thanks for your video! I would like to know if I have to use 12V LED stripes or if I can also use 5V in your example. I would have to use 17m of LEDs for my ceiling. I know that 12V would have a smaller voltage drop but could I also use your idea with 5V LEDs? I'm thinking about using 5V WS2812B 60 LEDS/m with a 80A Power supply. I think that these should have power injection every 5m, so I don't know if there is a problem if in one direction is 5m and the other direction 3m (which would be 8m instead of 5m) like in your sketch. Thanks for your response.

I am in the USA and want to replace the lights in some jewelry cases. I know I can run 5M of lights off one driver but I think I may have more lights (total length) than 5 meters. Am I correct in hearing that you can split the circuit into 2 branches and run one adapter in the middle and have two strips. If I have 20 feet of cabinets all in a row can I run 2 10 foot LED strips from 1 power supply by feeding it from the center. How large of a power supply would that take. would I need one to run a 20 foot strip or one to run a 10 foot strip since I had 2 ten foot runs. Last thing is what power supply would I want. I want to run 12v white (4000K) LED's in the displays Thank you

hi, i have a 10m led complete kit, there is only one output from the controller but i want to split the 10m strip into 4 segments, 2x 70cm long, 1x 3.5 meters and 1x 30cm segment, can i just create and continuous string but soilder wire between the segments, longest jump would be about 1 meter, or buy a 4 way splitter?
