This is very helpful. Thank you! What enclosure holds the original Mac SSD? I have a slightly different situation. I have a dead logic board on a 2014 MBA. I extracted the SSD and recycled the machine. Now I want to boot from that SSD on another Mac and make a backup of the dead computer. I think I can do this by installing the original SSD in an enclosure and connected it to another Mac, yes? If so, back to the original question: what is the enclosure you used to house the original drive? Thanks again!

I have the 2014 MBA with original 500GB SSD and 8GB ram. Is it worth upgrading to a new 1TB SSD, as far as speed, etc?

Did you recover your original drive on to the new drive then put the new drive in and it didn't load? I did this same process and noticed that the mac recovery process will allocate space for a bootloader, but not actually install it without manually doing it yourself.

I changed the ssd with an adapter to my macbook air that same model, but when restarting it does not detect it, but if I start Mac from a bootable USB if it appears, I already formed the ssd but still not

I have a question, if I removed the ssd from my old MacBook, and then put it in this adapter and then after that, I took the adapter (with the old SSD inside of it) and plugged that into my new MacBook, does that mean I can get my files from it?

Essentially, does putting the old SSD into the adapter make it become like an “external hard drive”?

Would you please help me find a correct match for a macbbok air a1466? Trying to buy a 1 TB ssd. What is the best brand converter to use? I have read that some adapters do not allow sleep/hibernation and require a full shutdown every time
