I can definitely tell the difference with screen res. I'm definitely getting a Full HD display in my next laptop. My TV is Full HD, my phone is full HD. What can I say, I love HD. (maybe my youtube channel name offers some idea) regarding battery life, the sony has a sheet battery which pushes the battery life to 18 hours, and still comes in lighter than Macbook Air. So the battery won't be an issue. Haven't pre-ordered the notebook yet, still gonna think about it for the next couple days.

I wish they add retina display and compensate by cutting the battery hours from the current 12 to 10. This would make more sense.

@Kevin
If you use the MB a lot on battery, go for the 2013 model.
But if u use it mostly at home with the adapter, then you can just pick up the 2012 model.

Getting a Mac is one of the best decisions I've ever made and I'm never looking back

Well Haswell Processors so yeah you should because since this Gen chip optimizes battery life and the retinas need allot of that battery in order to power such a display. If you are a Photographer, Videographer, Graphic designer then it is clear that you should wait.

For everyday use like e-mail, iTunes, iPhoto, Safari and others then get the MBA.

Hope this helps.

Right. Thanks for your help! I went ahead and got a 2012 MBA at Best Buy today. Only $900 for a 13" model, so couldn't pass up on it :)

This is only base frequency of the processor... Since ivy bridge (maybe already before) there is a great boost feature. The processor only rise its frequency if it is needed for the workload...

Look at the benchmarks the cpu power is about +10% of ivy bridge, but uses -25% of power. While graphic power is +40% vs the Intel HD 4000 onboard graphic... So this processor update from intel aims at mobility over all. especially on ultrabooks with no discrete graphic card...

I'm hesitating on whether to get this or wait for the new macbook pro retina 13" for my first year in college. The wait is killing me but I hope it'll be worth it :p

It's not gonna come pre-installed with Mavericks (for now). Right now you could get it with mountain lion.

Hope this helps.

I've used ultrabooks of all types and still none of them are as good as the macbook air. They just don't get everything right. For example the trackpad on the macbook is still the king of all trackpads. They just feel so simple to use and the gestures always work. Not something you can say about the others. And that's just one thing.

12 hours is NOT all does not = 24

the faster router is overkill, current speeds is already fantastic.

Macbook AIR is best laptop ever owned, and ive owned 100s

well seeing as it's machined from 1 aluminium extrusion, I reckon it would fair pretty well. And seeing as their is no optical drive/hard-drive, there's not much that could actually break

Reason why this year's MBA is going to have better battery life is because it comes equipped with the new 4th Gen Intel Processors (code named: Haswell) which helps with the battery performance.

Hope this helps.

Had my first macbook for three years & never had any problems...no error messages, no freezes, no crashes, no nothing. Worked like a dream till my friend accidentally spilled beer all over it. Now I have a new hp windows 8 pc. Straight out of the box it had problems, constantly freezing, crashing, lousy interface & not to mention all the popup adds & unwanted background programs from pre installed trial applications. This brand new PC runs 100X worse than my old mac book I hate it!

How about for college? I feel that I should have plenty of places to charge when needed, but I could be wrong.
