This was Atlantis. It also coincides with some of the accounts of ancient Greek historians who visited parts of ancient Africa and where tales about the GODS OF OLYMPUS got there origin. Even some of those historians spoke of Certain "Gods" (namely, Zues, Poseidon)as being enamored with some of the (black) African people so much so that they were freely walking among them. In one instance, there is even a tale about a certain (black) African princess who was adopted by the God Poseidon and turned into an honorary mermaid so that she could visit the God Poseidon in the sea. Now, mind you, a lot of historians have since tried to debunk those old historians as crackpots, but the ruined remains of the ancient city of Atlantis is still hidden there in Africa only clearly visible from space.
I am convinced that the "eye of Africa" is the long lost city of Atlantis, but I fear that the desert climate, and the remote locale has prevented a real detailed examination of that area as it would need to be sure. Maybe one day, some west African countries can get together and create a science and research team to thoroughly investigate the structure in-depth. Anyways, this was a great video. There is one thing that you can be certain of: ancient people of Africa were utterly, and absolutely aware of that eye! They saw it often and, no doubt, know EXACTLY what it is and how it got there! Please stop measuring knowledge in accordance to the European presence. The ancients and indigenous know far more than what is known today. You are willfully engaging a massive thinking-error.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Isn't Mauritania the place where their very first king was called King Atlas? And isn't King Atlas supposed to be the king of Atlantis? So if there is a formation formed from volcanic activity that looks like Atlantis in a place where the first king is king Atlas, then wouldn't it be Atlantis? All that's left to do is measure it correctly to see if the measurements matched Plato's descriptions

This is without a doubt, the remains of the lost city of Atlantis. These remains fit perfectly with the descriptions given of Atlantis in Plato's writings. Also, the mountains north of these remains are... the Atlas mountains. Wow! The Sahara is a desert these days, but even the views from space show the erosion from when it was lush and wet. Beautiful!

I believe that this is the ancient site of the lost capital city of the Atlantis empire (what the Greeks called the city). It seems that this location fits the exact description of Atlantis. From the size, shape with rings, the mountains to the north evidence of rivers flowing down from them, there were elephants in the city, they also had a lot of Iron Ore and Gold which this region has plenty of. The site was once surrounded by the ocean a long time ago when the desert was covered in water. The sands of the Sahara today are the same as the sands from the ocean and whale and fish bones have been found.
