Dr Paul Francis is an award-winning astrophysics researcher and lecturer at The Australian National University. His research focuses on comets, galaxy formation and novel teaching methods.

Hi Paul, I'm a bit worried about the clever astronaut who fires the rocket sideways and goes into a stable orbit. How fast is he travelling as he scoots around the black hole? Is it a significant percentage of c, and will he get like heavy man, as Nigel would say? Rowan

I had no idea space was permeated with peanuts.
