Learning that you can CHOOSE to ignore the thoughts coming from your brain, and then doing it, should be classified as a super power.
Your brain is not always your friend. It is an organ that is sometimes upset and sometimes very sick. If you can learn to separate yourself from your brain when it is upset or sick you can ensure that you will never be at the mercy of your brain.

And then we trust our lives on sleep deprived residents in the emergency room

When I studied in high-school, I would pull all nighters several times a week for months because I had found that sweet spot. In the end I ended up in the hospital from all the stress and all the build up. My heart was beating weird, i was hallucinating and just collapsing. They were able to stabilize me after a few days. Sadly I'm still struggling to this day( I was 16 then, I'm 23 now). You have to be so careful with sleep and your body, its so delicate and so powerful at the same time.

I like that. I remember when I was getting sober for the first time and getting pumped for the next day because I had a vision of the future. Slept like a baby every night. Not drinking helped too.

Funny experience i had my youth. I was working at night at around 2-3 in an empty computer hall (mainframe) besides those big machines with programming. I had been working 2-3 days with very little sleep. Suddenly my brain felt very clear and my hands began dancing over the keyboard.
During a couple of hours I didn't make any errors including any typing error. Everything just was in a flow.
I had maybe a few times a bit like that later but never as perfect as that time.

I would really like to understand more of this. Is there an article or video that gives more information about this?

It's 4:30 in the morning and I'm on YouTube to help redirect my mind from the dream I just woke up from and the intense depression and hopelessness I feel. This happens everyday. I'm terrified about the coming day. I don't feel safe. I'm alone and cold. I have intense challenges in my life. I'm under extreme stress. I'm trying real hard to think of something positive. I remind myself I have therapists and doctors and 2 good friends I've reached out for support. Some of what I'm feeling is augmented by the tiredness and exhaustion I feel. It's really hard to trust my mind or my gut at 4:30 in the morning.

You always make me want to get off YouTube and get that precious sleep. I shall think happy thoughts about tomorrow.

Yeah, ... It happened to me alot years ago when my sleeping schedule was messed up, ...

The exact timing what he said my mind just went crazy, I feel like I'm literally crazy....
Once it happened when I went camping with friends, a day before I didn't sleep, but I'm going camping anyway, the midnight it happened to me, and jeez, probably that's the worst feeling I've ever had, with add of while camping in the place I know nothing close to the middle of the forest but in the camping area, my mind went literally crazy, ... Immediately I know this was not good, I went out of tent and go to a chill place where I can still see people, drink some water and control my breath, ... Soon minutes after it went calm and my mind a little back to normal...and ended up I didn't sleep for the whole 2 days a night camping, ...

When I'm back home, I sleep for 17 hours...

6 months ago I started taking Melatonin 3gr, currently I'm still in it, it well works for me, better if I higher the dose tho....

I went to bed at 11PM to wake up at 7 for gym with friend (which I was expecting happily too!) and I woke up at 3am and felt like I was ready to conquer the day.. been up since and it’s 1pm maybe I’ll crash soon.. but this is true

What about catching up on sleep with a power nap in the middle of the day? Any advice to do it flawlessly?

It's the old fashioned warm bath, clean sheets, dark, cool, quiet room. I have a fake flickering candle. Oh and your pillow needs to smell like heaven. Good Night
