BUT WHY?? 🤔

Most of the time we get caught up in wanting to improve certain speed qualities without understanding repercussions in respect to what you’re already getting enough of. In-season you are changing direction in matches and training so much so training it more COULD lead to overuse and injuries down the line. Context of volume is important.

Understand and assess what you’re not training ENOUGH of. For footballers it’s typically sprints between the 20-40m and strength training. So in-season I would focus on these things 👇👇👇

Resisted speed, flys, strength at lower reps for compound lifts, weighted jumps/Olympic lifts, and plyometrics in multiple directions. Understand when I say this will be the MAIN focus. I’m not saying NEVER train multi-speed/agility. Context is key to programming 💪🏼
