I can absolutely relate. I can sing along with a recording, I can sing with others but the second my voice gets louder than theirs or they stop singing or the recording stops, my voice cuts out and as hard as I try I can't control my voice. It feels like it's stuck in my throat

sometimes when i get on stage, i
end up almost crying, especially if friends and family are there for support, i believe it is because i have hardly ever had support, i have most been put down in my life by family being treated like i am not good enough, i am working on this, it's just challenging

Regards different environments. Behavioural Therapists would call this controlled exposure. It's how I approach it. Home (alone), Home (family/friends), Open Mic, Gig. Focus/control on breathing great tip - anxiety causes erratic/shallow breathing. Preparation makes me feel more relaxed too.

This is amazing. It makes sense and I thought of this before. He is a good teacher and I would love to work with him or someone like him. Also, not to forget, the host is amazing: talent, kindness, cuteness (literally, she is so bubbly and nice) and humbleness. Great videos. Thank you for inspiring us singers.

I always thought I just had simply, tension. Turns out, I had tension because of singing anxiety. When I was with my vocal coach, I was able to sing a high note in a song I was familiar. But when I tried to sing that exact high note in a different song, I had really bad tension.

You cannot control the mind with the mind, yes! Love that, it's me getting in my own head that makes me nervous

Yes! @singeo I'd like to hear y'all talk more about this tension in regard to emotions. How do you sing an emotional song without getting tense and choked up? This has happened to me a few times while performing at church, and it is so, so embarrassing!

I'm terrified to the point that my throat already tenses up from breathing alone when I think about singing

Singing in front of a large audience, does give me extreme stage fright, 😢😢😢

Kurt Cobain did it too. I heard he took about an hour sitting in silence on his own just to get into it before recording. I totally can relate to him doing that.

You don’t need to keep looking at the camera behaving like that, you look like a children’s tv presenter
