The ACTUAL True Story Behind Cocaine Bear Is MUCH DIFFERENT

On what was a normal stroll through its habitat in the winter of 1985 at Chattahoochee National Forest, a curious American black bear, stumbled upon something peculiar
lying on the forest ground. The bear approached with fascination and began to paw and slash at it until it finally tore it open. Suddenly, a strong chemical odor filled the air, and less than 10 minutes later, this bear would go on to experience something that no other creature on Earth has ever experienced before.
This incredible, and quite frankly, unbelievable story- has captured the world's attention, and it's no surprise that a very recently released major motion picture based on it has been making headlines across the world…
Movies, however, are movies after all, and when Hollywood bases one on a real-life story there are usually many differences between what’s seen on film, and what actually occurred in real life.
The following video depicts in detail the actual true story of the cocaine bear.

Correction: A few reports indicate that the bear actually ate just 3-4 grams of coke, whereas most (like wikipedia) indicate that it ate all 70 lbs... but nobody is really sure how much was in fact ingested by it...

Poor bear! He must have been in an inexplicable frenzy before passing away. How sad!

I can remember when this happened in Knoxville finding the guy on the driveway. I lived approximately 20 miles from Knoxville and woke up seeing it on the news. Interesting story especially learning more details about what actually happened.

It couldn't of tasted too good to the bear but once he felt the rush, he probably said that feels good, I want more. It's hard to believe the bear would eat it all, very sad story.

I wish the movie would’ve been more serious, more horror like

As funny as it can be to imagine the highest animal on earth as a type of legend/story type thing, I do feel a bit sad for the bear. Like what poor luck for the creature to find those drugs out there.

Thanks for a well done video, like always.

RIP cocaine bear 🐻

Edit- an autopsy on an animal is called a necropsy! Pretty cool lil wording tidbit to me, sorry if its annoying to point out stuff like that 😅

Firstly your editing and production was excellent. :) Secondly I just feel so bad for the poor bear. He didn’t ask to OD that morning.

So that's the whole story of Cocaine Bear! That's pretty crazy to say the least. That amount of coke is undoubtedly fatal. Poor bear. He was probably thinking it might've been something edible but instead his luck wasn't so great and ended up ingesting all that blow. Although this is sad for the bear, this is a unique story that isn't heard about often. Nevertheless, this video is very well-made. Nice editing and video production quality. I definitely want to watch Cocaine Bear now lol!

Imagine a silverback gorilla on Coke tho...I think that's equally, if not more, terrifying

I read somewhere that during the time the bear was intoxicated, it became the most dangerous carnivore on the entire planet. No orca pod, polar bear, tiger, jaguar, sea leopard could've matched its ferocity.

Great video as usual, cheers!

I remember this because I'm old and live in Kentucky and Andrew Thornton was a Lexington, KY police officer. The bear is purportedly on display at some Mall in Lexington and they bought from one of my favorite entertainers Waylon. When I heard something about a movie named "Cocaine Bear" I said to a friend, remember the cop and the OD'd bear?. I didn't know the movie was about that incident. I'll stream it one of these days.
